Good catch on the Oxygenated Hedgehog debug. Indeed the achievement used a different debug protection than the vast majority of other achievements in the set. The one it used remained stale, which should explain the quirks. It's been updated.

Amazing video! You've earned a sub! I think the reason why they made it so you can't enter a Special Stage in Scrap Brain Zone is because the Big Ring sprites are overwritten by the billowing smog effects in the background of Scrap Brain Zone Act 1, so it'd result in glitched graphics

Wait, you had debug mode on for a moment but other cheevs were triggering in the same session? That... That shouldn't be possible. Cheat protection like that is pretty standard stuff, and this was literally _the first game_ to get a set on RA... I'm not sure if the place I brought that issue up was the correct one, but said issue has now been raised.

My personal theory after thinking it over some more is that the anti-cheat only really applied to leaderboard attempts. The drowning achievement just had some kind of bugged logic that the newest version of Retroarch fixes, I think even Under-achiever would have worked if I hadn't updated Retroarch. I think I just had an older version of retroarch than I thought, but it's possible something more complicated could be going on here.

iirc it works by reading memory until certain conditions are met and an achievement is unlocked. Which is handled locally by the emulator , it then uses an API to send that info to a server. I've read some of the documentation on making achievements, since there's a few games I like missing achievements.

I once got all of the chaos emeralds without the level select on accident. I even managed to activate the special stage on all 10 levels where it is doable. Genuanly, the hardest part of that entire mission for me, are the special stages themself (I managed to fail the 2nd special stage around 4 times, and finnaly got it in star light 2)

Next RetroAchivements Idea: You Should Try to Master Sonic Classic Heroes which is a Pretty Good ROM Hack cuz well i can just master this in like 6 hours, do not worry, it is not as bad as sonic and even shorter to take to finish than sonic 3

I know partly know how the retro achievement works from the basics it looks at the ram of the rom and what happens in the game while in the emulator and looks at specific points of data that it can find while being played in the emulator and then checks what the website says that the data is for a achievement or not that’s all I know about it working please do remember I don’t know how it works very well I have just look at some information I could understand in a way in the guid of how to make achievements but I might be wrong this is how I understand i/ what I could understand so it might be wrong Also if you are reading this far then you have wasted your time on me tell you what I know
