The thing about the first one is, he thought the same for Yoriichi, he describes that when he first saw Yoriichi, he didnt look like a treat, just a man with a sword, and Muzan acknowledged it as the 2nd greatest mistake of his life, because underestimating Yoriichi’s poeer is exactly what nearly killed him, Muzan’s senses told him that Yoriichi was weak, but Yoriichi had selfless state that hid his battle spirit, which made him look weak, Muzan most likely thought the same thing when he thought of Tanjiro, besides, Tanjiro has the earings, similar mark, eyes, and hair colour, he also looks weak, which is the exat description Muzan gave of Yoriichi before he got *obliterated*

The first biggest mistake Muzan made was killing the doctor that was treated him. Even if it had been a failure, the doctor was genuinely trying to help him. This shows that he was truly despicable from the start. Also, he could have found out about the blue spider Lily if he had asked some humans to help instead. There certainly would have been humans who knew about it over the centuries he spent searching for it.

I think Muzan knew exactly Tanjiro's power, he just didn't want to make a mess in the crowd and risking Hashiras noticing something. He let go Tanjiro and asked those two to kill him, I mean, he didn't know about Nezuko, Tamayo and Yushiro, he was totally expecting him to die there. If he sent Upper Moons it would have shown him as weak and scared, and we know how prideful he is, so since there was no reason for Tanjiro to survive, he choose this way. Then, when he realized that Yahaba and Susarumaru had failed it was too late for locating him.

And other then the sun volume 21 demon slayer chapter 187, you would see that his on weakness is bright red nichirin as it prevents demons from regenerating themselves. Demons like kokushibo, akaza,and Muzan are the only demons that can regenerate there head. But again in the same chapter, you will notice that it says that muzan was confused of why he can't regenerate his head. So if yoriichi sliced of his arms,muzan would be dead

Muzan didn’t send a Kizuki because like you said, Yoriichi wasn’t the best thing to deal with at the time so he could’ve lost the Kizuki.Losing a Kizuki would’ve been very fatal to the demons organization. The core send Tanjiro and his friends to fight upper moon demons because they could have defeated a few upper moon demons because of Tanjiro’s sun breathing.Muzan would technically die because of his old age.It said in the final battle that he was getting slower and slower because of the fourth effect of Tomayo’ potion. I think it needs to be noted that, while Muzan was very powerful and experienced, he was still human. Yes, I do know he says the upper ranks fall in order of how much humanity they have left, but I took that as more in terms of morality and mentality rather than physicality. For example, Gyokko was easily the least human in terms of appearance, and he was only Upper 5, yet he suffered a very intrinsically human trait of jealousy and was easily offended by Muichiro insulting his art. Even Upper 1 tapped into his humanity at the end, and ultimately took himself out before fully transforming. What I’m trying to get at here is that Muzan, while a ruthless evil bastard, can never fully escape his humanity.

The third mistake isnt really a mistake. Muzan knows all hashiras combined wouldnt even do shit to him. The only reason why the demon slayers stand a chance is because the hashiras locations are secret. And muzan has too much of an ego and thinks too highly of himself that he doesnt think demon slayer is a threat. And add to the fact that he didnt even know tamayo could develop drugs that could hurt Muzan.

Also the fourth mistakes do not make any sense. Demon Slayers are always prepared for their deaths so they wont really care about how much force they are losing. Only the ones that survive are fit for more tough battles. I think they covered losing tanjiro in the factors but they still decided to send tanjiro because thats how they level up. And the reason why tanjiro grows so quickly is because he is always on the brink of death. I do not remember where I got the insight that they level up faster in live or death situations, but i think it is true for Tanjiro. Fighting is a valuable experience. If tanjiro trains by himself he couldnt have leveled up that quickly. And the demon slayer corps only has one guy that makes decisions and that is ubuyashiki but he is sick as hell all the time. Death is a selection process of hashira for stronger ones that endure through battles and survive.
