This What if was cool, except the ending which didn't make sense. Naruto, as an Uchiha, should have become Hokage, because even if he was not the target of Akatsuki, he was ready to stand against Pain, while Sasuke was ready to abandon the village in his clutches. Worse, he is even rewarded by being elected Hokage.

I don't naruto would be significantly weaker early on . The only reason he couldn't actually perform any technique was because of kurama interference. If anything naruto might be a late bloomer but wouldn't really be lagging behind.

Learning sage mode is pretty much pointless for the uchiha. As long as they can see, just their 3 tomoe sharingan already gives them precog and reaction speed either on par, or superior to sage mode users. Madara only stole hashirama’s sage mode because he no longer had any eyes.
