I don't think so. Remember, at that point, Metallica was still strictly a word-of-mouth band and was still one more album away from getting ANY radio time other than one or two songs at a time when the local radio station would have been airing the Z-ROCK broadcast from L.A. on a time delay for a few hours on late night Fridays. They had a slot on the show called Mandatory Metallica, and that was the only time we ever heard them on the air before ...AJfA. Not even at 2:30 A.M. during the week. As popular as they were becoming, they still hadn't broken through to actually being aired at any time of day when us metalheads would have been sleeping through class. I firmly believe that if this had made it onto MoP, it would have destroyed any and all credibility that they had built up in the thrash metal scene and quite possibly derailed the band's careers. If we wanted to hear music like this in '86, that's why they had BonJovi. But this song is completely devoid of any subject matter they were writing at the time; politics, drug use, death, suicide, war, injustice, violence, agression, anger, mysery, suffering, sorrow, madness, etc. Not trust. They weren't singing about trust in '86. That didn't happen unti '90. It's definitely a great reworking of the song, just not '86 material. It's too polished, too clean, too radio friendly, too produced. No Metallica album should ever be produced more than A.J.f.A.

First minute - Very nice intro with very Orion-ish parts Second minute - The vocals have become much more distant than they are on the black album, and James sounds slightly younger, although not as much as usual in your redos. The Pre-Chorus is very chord-laden and ThicC. Third Minute - Ok the chorus hit woah. Very powerful, and reminiscent of Sanitarium. The Guitar solo afterwards furthers that feeling, which I think has been edited slightly as well. The drum fills are noticeably heavier and a second chorus brings in epic proportions Fourth minute- The melodies are quite sad, not aggressive. Very like a couple of songs on master. The chorus with soft guitar is interesting, and although not expected seems quite likely. The build-up is a part of the Pre-Chorus, which I think is taken from the title track. Oh shet, there's thrash Sixth minute - The thrash intro had a very interesting and off-camber fill which fitted nicely with Lars' style in the 80's. The following part is from Leper Messiah? Seventh Minute - I'm not even gonna have to write and eighth. The song very well brings across master of puppets, even if James' vocals sound off. The layout and instrumentals all fit perfectly. Incredibly well done, Mercury! And what happened to Black Album Blackened?

There are so many hidden things (not that much actually lmao) that made this song much sicker than usual. Allow me to give my 2 Pesos. 0:56 - A newly written solo following the verse riff of the clean guitars 1:07 a soft but audible harmony on that descending scale Also, realise that the vocals are now in double-take rather than single (the norm 'Tallica had back in their days) 4:45 the vocals are now in another key (actually caught me off guard LMAO) which makes this song much more natural. I have no words for the final solos, they're amazing as it is. It wasn't ripped off at all, just played by heart to fit the hands of Krik Hammer. The track, of course, was mostly inspired by Welcome Home (Sanitarium), but it wasn't *HEAVILY* reworked following the structure and arrangement on that song as well (be it either on Nothing else matters or sanitarium). What makes this a unique masterpiece is that you were able to put yourself in the shoes of the band themselves. You were able to write down new riffs and pieces that sound so much different than its inspired originals and made a ballad song into a heavy and boiling song, and that's what makes you the very best reworker out here. \m/

This is incredible. The chorus is super powerful, such a cool vibe. Like dominance meets vulnerability meets Lunacy. Once the fast half kicks in I started laughing and got the cereal in my mouth all over the place because my mind said, “oh fuck, he went there and this is just fucking perfect” . Made me get that butterfly, tingly, excited rage feeling one gets when hearing a really good riff for the first time. So thank you for that duder! Great job!!

Sounds like what Metallica fans in 1991 wished the black album would have sounded like for how much they cried about the band selling out. Fantastic job, mate!
@stephenknapper2432 жыл бұрын
They didn't sell out they knew how to make money 4 years touring on that album grossed 750 million and they planted there seed of what they did with first four albums so they could do what hey want now load was to mainstream waste of there talent

Exactly right. Astute observation! Black Album was ho hum average to my ears and still is. 1/3 are very recognizable but a lot of borderline fillers compared to their earlier work. There were three factors it was so successful at the time 1. The previous classic albums that build up enormous anticipation. I was outside record store for the record release. It was like a Metallica concert OUTSIDE. 2. James Hetfields voice on that album is probably peak metal all time. Flawless. Not even himself can duplicate that performance. 3. There were a few hits that charted that launched the band to the normies and the backlog qualities then won all over.

@@malmstring I've always thought the record was deliberately front loaded with all the best songs on Side A. By comparison, Side B is Nothing Else Matters and "the rest."

Very well done, but I reeeally like the outro, having the rhythm and A harmony just like at the end of Sanitarium sounded awesome, and the riff after was phenomenal, this is just _the good shit_
@chrishowell65492 жыл бұрын
I really loved those guitar licks before the vocal intro. In its totality, this sounded like Sanatarium's brother. This is cool, and thank you for the work you put into all of these. It really makes me appreciate the tones and sounds unique to each and every album.

There’s an Ad in the middle of the song again. I even let the ads play before the song first so it wouldn’t interrupt it. 😬 (just an FYI)

@@goodvidz1140 I got double ads on the beginning, during the middle part and a minutes before the song ends.
@goodvidz11404 жыл бұрын
@@marioalexanderski9598 That SUCKS! What gets me is; do the advertisers actually believe they make their products in any manner appealing via interrupting what we're trying to watch? If ANYTHING, that bullshit makes them annoying as Hell and sets a psychological precedent against their successes at future sales!
@BajaChalupas13794 жыл бұрын
@Luke negative. I pay for enough streaming services without adding KZbin too. I don’t have a problem with ads in the beginning before it starts. Ads in the middle ruin the song. Kills the listening experience.
