From what I can tell, Tywin's actions were faithful to the original books. He takes a massive gamble to say the least, but alternative would be to let his entire life's work fall to ruin. Even the very survival of his lineage is at stake (while omitted from the TV show, there's a separate "House Lannister of Lannisport" - still makes sense that Crown would seize Casterly Rock and only return it once sufficient loyalty is demonstrated, either to one of the Cersei's spawn or a Lannisport scion.) Also his plan somewhat mirrors "Battle on the Green Fork" in the original books: Roose Bolton realizes his army is the underdog, and decides to execute a bold night attack, hoping to throw the enemy into a disarray. Ironically the stronger army is led by Tywin.

I feel like far too often people forget book Ned wasn't actually stupid He was legitimately traumatised by what happened to Rhaegar's kids and how everyone reacted to them being brutally murdered. He knew Robert would probably become bloodlusted and start killing, so he wanted Cersei to take her kids and GTFO before telling Robert. When it was too late, he didn't want to tell Robert because it wouldn't accomplish anything except making his final hours worse. People also say he's stupid for trusting Littlefinger, but everyone trusts Littlefinger in the books, because he's lowkey and arguably the most useful man in King's Landing. Also not really stupid for going back on his statements, because his kids were hostages at that point. Ned is in a weak man in a sense (compared to Stannis for instance), but not a stupid one. Everything else that went wrong was basically circumstance and bad luck. His entire family except him and Arya were wayyyy way dumber than Ned, who always entertained doubts but acted on principle regardless.

Kevan is essentially Tywin's second in command. So that fighting goes on for a year to be interrupted by the Night King finding a way pass the Wall.

Not sure about Daenerys' invasion. If she still gets to Meereen in this timeline, she won't have Barristan or Tyrion to help her out. It's going to be a lot harder for her to win her war against slavery in Essos lacking good allies. Westeros is still united under Robert in this scenario and hasn't been weakened by war. And she can't count on any houses to support her like they did in the show - the Tyrells have zero incentive to, and the Martells also don't have much reason to with the Lannisters weakened & Tywin and the Mountain dead. She'd have to rely on her dragons and the Dothraki, which might work, but she's going to find herself with many enemies.

There would be only four seasons of game of thrones at best if Robert would have survived and stayed alive because that means Ned will survive too and told him the truth about „his“ children. Cersei and Her twin would be executed, the children too, the war of the 5 Kings would never happen and Robert has to fight house Lannister which will cause a lot of trouble for Robert because he financed his rule with a big part of Lannister money. But in the end he and his best friend Ned would obliterate them, Daenerys would have been assassinated, Jon would alert them of the threat beyond the wall, no dragons means no wallbreak for the nightking and his undead army. They would know of dragonglass and stannis would have delivered, in this case Jon would have killed the Nightking somehow because he has the biggest plot armor, arya lacks her training from jaqhen. That’s how game of thrones would look like with Robert alive and staying alive.
