Ok, flat-out, Palpatine would not get along with Windu. Sheev "The Senate" Palpatine would likely still have that natural pull towards the dark side and sociopathic tendencies (it's inherent to Palpatine's character) even as a Jedi (he'd have simply been taught to suppress them), something that would constantly scare the shit out of Mace Windu. And because Mace thinks he's some sort of infallible god with his shatterpoint ability, he'd probably constantly be at odds with Palpatine because he'd keep seeing potential shatterpoints for Palpy to fall, kinda like he did with Anakin. It's likely that Palpatine would have built his own inner circle of friends and allies within the order just like Windu did, which would ultimately result in two dissonant factions within the order. And this is actually potentially beneficial to galaxy as a whole, because with Mace Windu distracted with The Senate, he wouldn't be able to antagonize Anakin.

One thing you forgot to mention, is palatine's charismatic personality. This would make him one of the BEST Jedi consulars, albeit a cynical one, but by the time of the clone wars, palpatine's public relations skills would put the Jedi order in a FAR Better public view, than in the main timeline.

Really, really awesome video. Glad you went with the theme of nurture vs nature. The Plagueis novel makes absolutely clear how absolutely broken Palpatine was by the ruinous family life his father imposed on him. Being raised by wise and proper mentors like Yoda and Dooku would certainly have moulded him into a more grounded and level headed individual. Amazing story.

I don't think Palpatine could be a jedi. In the novel darth plagueis palpatine is described as a psychopath and a sociopath, this is why palpatine is quite literally described as the dark in the dark side, a black void where nothing exists but the void. He was incapable of appreciating anything that did not benefit him directly, people were just tools in his rise to the mantle of the dark lord of the sith.

When plagueis ordered the assassination of then Sen. Naboo (Kim) and close mentor of palpatine, Sidious didn’t even flinch. The aristocratic human male from Naboo was destined for the darkside.

Why is the idea of a Palpatine and windu duo so badass? I love it, just works so well. Wish they'd make some alternate universe comics like this, you love to see it. Especially that bit in Mos Eisley, that was beautiful. Got so excited hearing about all the characters, I think you did that part really well. Oh, but, very slight correction; form 7 is juyo, which darth maul uses. Vapaad is an evolution of juyo and an original art by mace, though I very much love and agree with the idea of Palpatine developing in this scenario. The only difference is that whilst both are combinations of all 6 of the other lightsaber forms, vapaad is mace's spin on it that specifically harnesses dark side energy to use and reflect against his opponents. Absolutely love the duo though!

A bit of an issue with this: Palpatine's connection to the Dark Side is inherent, and additionally he's a high-functioning psychopath. Jedi Palpatine would be fighting with his own nature his entire life if he doesn't just flat-out fall. Granted, he _could_ do it, but it would be an uphill battle. I don't think it would be as simple as just "he was raised a Jedi so he wouldn't fall", because that natural pull towards the dark would always be there, far more so than with Mace or Anakin.

I loved the idea of Plagueis trying to balance out Anakin. If he had time his acolytes would have been formidable, possibly true Knights of Ren. I don't think the Sith would have been extinguished entirely though. Always plotting, scheming. We don't know what Plagueis would have done regarding essence transfer, or if he taught Maul. Maul could stlll have his brother in the wings, unbeknownst to Plagueis and possibly Talon. Asage Ventress would have been around as well. It would be interesting to think what the order would be if the Sith were defeated culturally for good. Is that possible. I wonder if it wouldn't just take another form in that of the Nightsisters? The dynamic of light and dark would change significantly. Also, what if there is a Galen or a Cal as well down the line? All in all, I loved it and would love to collaborate with you.

I know you'll probably never reply to this, but i love that you ACTUALLY made palpatine stay a Jedi. I'm so sick of these other "what if palpatine was a jedi" that always turn into "what if palpatine became a sith lord through different means". As someone who studied psychology, not all people with ASPD are serial killers. Yes Palpatine was born with ASPD, but imo his serial killer tendancies grew from how he was raised. We know in the Darth Plaguies novel, palpatine's father always paid off people to keep palpatine out of any consequences for his actions, because he did not want house Palpatine to look bad. Palpatine never suffered any consequences for his actions his ENTIRE childhood and teen years. Even after murdering his whole family, he was really shaken up by what he had just done. I feel his point of no return was the night he killed his whole family. Then there's the treatment from his father who HATED palpatine from the moment his was born and tried to murder him as a baby. Palpatine grew to resent his father for various reasons but the main one being Palpatine wanted to get off naboo and forge his own path into what he saw as greatness, his father however wanted him to serve house palpatine on naboo. It's clear to me that palpatine needed a proper father figure/mentor and someone to hold him accountable when he did wrong. Yoda would be the perfect jedi to do that, and if he had been found as a baby, he would be raised with all the proper teachings. I even feel if palpatine had been found at the same age that Plaguies met him, there is still a chance Yoda could properly train him if they get to him before his point of no return. Now don't get me wrong, i still think Palpatine would be a very cynical person, but quite honestly the jedi needed some cynicism by the time of phantom menace, as corruption in the republic was rampant. Could Palpatine still turn to the darkside? Yes. But this is a "WHAT IF" story, what if stories are supposed to go against the grain, and i agree with you that the way palpatine was brought up, played a huge role in creating the monster we all know.

I agree. Every time I see a "Palpatine is found by the Jedi first but still later turns to the Dark Side anyway", I almost always hate it. It shows no imagination: "Hey, he just ended up going down the same path anyway. Sorry". It actually takes some writing talent to have this character who is so 'predestined' for ultimate evil, to actually REJECT that path and stick with it.

13:00 already a problem in the story. Supposedly Anakin was created by the force as an answer from Plagues and Palpatine trying to control the force. If Palpatine was a Jedi, this would have never happened.

Not to mention C3P0 would have never come into existence, though I can't recall at what point in his childhood did Anakin completed the droid. Also, I find it hard that with the Sith Order destroyed before its beginning, I can barely see how the Force would truly be restored to balance. There was a reason why the Force would allow the entire Jedi Order to be destroyed in the first place.
