If Sirius survived I think he would have died in the final battle instead of Lupin, but until this point he would have been extremely helpful to the trio and the order. I wonder what his reaction be like if he heard Harry exposing that Snape was on the good side and that it was a planned death. He would be like this😮

Personally, I understand why Sirius Black had to do die, but I felt like it happened way too soon personally. He was only introduced in the 3rd book or movie, the Prisoner of Azkaban, and got killed off in the 5th book or movie, Order of the Phoenix. But I think they should’ve waited until the 6th or 7th book before that happen. I mean he was really only around for 2 more movies after his introduction. So it just felt like we didn’t spend enough time with the character. What do you all think?

I wonder how he would've reacted to Kreacher telling the story of how Regulus stole the Horcux and replaced it with a replica. I don't think he would have been as forgiving to Kreacher cause of it due to growing up with him, but I also think he would've felt proud that Regulus eventually came to his senses and ultimately gave his life to protect his family and would probably give him even more reason to fight and accompany the trio on the hunt for horcrux hunt as he would want to make sure his brother didn't sacrifice himself for nothing.

Yall seriously underestimate Sirius Black, he wasn't just any ordinary wizard, it's been said so many times by so many different people that he is insanely powerful, if he hadn't gotten distracted and caught off guard in the department of ministries he would have never died in any of the books, and neither would Lupin or Tonks, as at the Battle of Hogwarts Sirius would have been there to help and he would have wanted to help Lupin

If the battle of the 7 Potters didn't take place, Headwig would still be alive as well. The time spent in the woods would have been much shorter with her acting as a messenger bird. They would have been brought in quicker, and thus, the battle of Malfoy Mannor never happened. Sadly, we lose Luna, Griphook, and Olivander, but Dobby lives. Then, the burial scene becomes him with Moody's eye.

In my honest opinion, I think the events would of happened in some way similarly. Dumbledore, I think, would if made sure Harry stayed at the Dursley's regardless if Sirius lived. Harry definitely would if visited but not be allowed to call it home. I'd imagine he would of visited the Dursley place often as well. Him helping him move along with Ginny is a definite plus. Overall, in my alternate head canon, things would be similar but not exact to as if he died.

Harry wouldn't be the same Harry, if Sirius hadn't died. His death is a character defining moment and it will definitely move the canon heavily. Even delaying the death makes a difference. The reason I mentioned that is because Harry's strength and love was sourced a lot from the pain of losing his loved ones. Not saying it's good to lose loved ones, but for the sake of the story and character development, Sirius's death makes "sense".

It wasn’t a character defining moment. Sirius dying doesn’t change Harry. Yes he has a fit at the end of book 5 but by book 6 he’s back to normal pretty much. Harry didn’t need to lose Sirius to “get stronger”.

@@Yvanehtnioj2000 completely false. harry wasn't "fine" in book 6. he lost the only sense of family he could ever have. there were times in the later books, when he wished he had a family. on dropping the resurrection stone in the forest, he saw sirius along with his parents, as he considered him as lost family.

@@Yvanehtnioj2000 that's just the movies though. In the movies, it really did look like he wasn't affected but in the books the impact that Sirius' death had on Harry was massive. One of the prime examples is when Harry completely thrashed Dumbledore's office in anger, I hate that they didn't include it in the movies. Harry also always kept the mirror that Sirius gave him with himself and kept taking it out to look into it :) Also the effort Sirius put to be there for Harry is also greatly undermined in the movies. In the books during the Goblet of Fire, Sirus stayed in a cave in Hogsmeade as Padfoot just to be near Harry and he was also in the hospital wing to support Harry after what happened in the graveyard

@@AverageMofo Harry by book 6 was fine in terms of coping with Sirius death which was only like a month or two after it happened. Yes he had the scene at the end of book 5 where he was upset, as is natural, but a month or two later he was more or less back to himself. Also he didn’t *need* to lose Sirius. Like, to say Harry NEEDED to lose him to feel loss is entirely untrue. He’s felt that his whole life. No Harry doesn’t remember his parents but by the way the Dursleys treated him, their deaths were all the more tragic for him. Not to mention Cedric dying. He wasn’t family, but he didn’t have to be. Harry knew love, and he knew loss…

It's been a long time since I read the books, so I don't really remember much clearly. Talking about a 'character turning point' I feel like most of that happened due to what Harry experienced in the graveyard and Cedric's death. No doubt Sirius' death hit him hard but it was not NEEDED

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Harry himself questioned why they'd be travelling in the open using thestrals, Hagrid's motorbike and broomsticks in the battle of the seven Potters, since the original plan was to use apparition to get him out of Privet Drive... and he was told they have to use methods of travel that the Ministry can't track.

That's true, but I think that duel would've happened at a different time/place. I think Voldemort would've appeared regardless of the outcome of the battle because ultimately he has to kill Harry, not his death eaters

Up to book 4 Harry only tried to escape Voldemort, and survive when he attacked him. Sirius’s death is the turning point, with the dumbledore’s office scene, when he understands that due to the profecy he’ll have to kill Voldemort, or be killed, and has the motivation to do it. So I’m not sure he would become so hellbent on finding the horcruxes and actively do whatever necessary to end Voldemort if Sirius had survived.

I think they could have had Harry live with Sirius but live a Pivet Drive in the Summer till his 18th birthday but he would have had a safe place to go for Christmas and Easter instead of just staying at Hogwarts. I would have loved to see him as a Defense of the Dark Arts or a Dumboldore's Army Duel instructor. I think I would have loved seeing him do something to Umbridge for scarring Harry with that black quil

​@@JustAnotherShopaholic if you think that Albus is a manipulative man, he left Sirius in Akhaban as he needed to mould Harry to sacrifice himself and left Voldemort to kill him and the Horcruxs in Harry. He did want Harry to live in the wizarding world, to have a humble Harry who could be guided by Albus. Sirius would have stopped that, he'd loved Harry, he'd fight to the end to protect Harry, taught him to fight, Harry would be Heir to the Houses of Potter and Black.

If Sirius suvived and returned back to the tower after the cave, I think Dumbledore would've asked him if to do something else in order to seperate Sirius from Harry, so the events goes the same way. There's a vid on if Cedric Diggory lived, I realized this just now that isn't mentioned. If he lived, then Harry wouldn't b able to c thestrals, and thus the relation with him and Luna Lovegood wouldn't b as good that we know of. Frendly, but not understanding with seeing things others don't.

Lovely video, though Dumbledore would have never allowed Harry to lose the protection and would insisted on Harry staying at 4 Privite Drive at least for a week. About the locket - Dumbledore wouldn't risk the trip to the cave just out of curiosity if he already knows they have the real horcrux nor he would allow Sirius to interfere in his suicide plans presuming he already had the stupidity to put the ring on. Maybe there still would have been 7 Potters but Sirius would be there instead of Mundungus and wouldn't flee no matter who he's paired with. About the Battle - so many options. About carrying the horcrux - 12 years in Azkaban wouldn't be a plus but more like PTSD and I don't think Harry would allow him to suffer or take the risk once they realize what is doing. Sirius would be of more help while hiding. They may never got caught or they could be separated and meet again in Hogwarts.

Would the horcrux have affected sirius if he was in his animagus form? As mentioned somewhere in the books (been a while since i read them so vague recollection here) he explained that he would switch to his animagus form in azkaban as the dementors couldn't affect him as badly.

I think people forget that their relationship was not exactly a healthy one. He consistently made the same mistake Snape made. Which was looking at Harry as James and not as Harry. He even called him James when they were fighting in the ministry. I don’t think it would have been all happy and good if he lived.

You should have added that when Sirius was cleared of all charges, he should have been given a compensation of 100,000 galleons per year pro rata for the Ministry of Magic's miscarriage of justice against him, which makes a lot of the dishonest politicians who are secret supporters of Voldemort very angry because they've lost a scapegoat whom them would presumably know was innocent from the get-go. And the total amount of galleons he would receive from the Ministry would be between 1,400,000 or 1,500,000 based on his false imprisonment for 12 years and being on the run for 2 to 3 years.
