What if Sonic 06 was The Metarex Saga?

Today, I discuss a theory of mine that talks about what Sonic 06 could have been like in an alternate timeline and said theory relates to Sonic X! Enjoy!

I have a different idea regarding Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) it stars Sonic and Blaze with a new character that emphasizes treachery and tragedy. And one of the changes would be that Elise is a duchess rather than a princess, that’s all. Also, Soleanna would be in the Sol Dimension, and Silver does not appear in this thought experiment of a game.

bro this is the most amazing and interesting idea for the Metarex Saga to be adapted into the games💫 and this deserves to be a fanfic i would read all over again or a game i would play it over and over and i also imagine what would Silver do if he was in the Metarex Saga as well as his interactions with Cosmo, also Cosmo needs more recognition because she deserves to come back even though not anytime soon

Silver teaming up with the Chaotix is super fitting since He worked with Espio in Rivals 2 and with Vector in TSR. But I can't help but think that it would be better for Silver to become a leader of a whole new team made of Himself as a Flying type, Blaze for speed and Amy for power. Team Chaotix would stay unchanged with Vector, Espio and Charmy and just to keep all the Heroes characters relevant, maybe we could get a new take on Team Rose with Cream, Big and Gemerl

Good vid bro! I'll just drop some 06 love in here, it's if you ask me the second best Sonic game ever right behind Unleashed. It excels in many things especially level design, OST, main villain, characterization and tone/atmosphere which all remain on a league of their own to this very day (except maybe Frontiers on some of these). Its downsides are constantly overblown, its positives rarely praised, it deserves more love. 06 actually represents EXACTLY what I want from Sonic as a franchise. Dead serious story, lore galore, characters that are whacky and fun but also realize they oftentimes find themselves in dangerous situations, nuanced writing and themes, humor that isn't just cringy one-liners but actually has a purpose, character developments you can take seriously, Sonic not being "just a guy that loves adventure" but a conscious hero that enjoys the ride (I actually hate the fact that a lot of people just want him to be a guy that just has fun and just ruins Eggman's plans every now and then, he hasn't been that since 2005). What 06 (and Frontiers) tried to do is the future I want for the Blue Blur!

Thanks for the video! I definitely think the Metarex Saga being adapted into an SA3 could have been an amazing possibility, but alas, it wasn't to be. Fangame/fanfic opportunity perhaps? Also, this video is really engaging and well-edited, and deserves way more views. I do have a suggestion, though: maybe change the title to be more descriptive; for example, "What if Sonic 06 adapted the Metarex Saga?". Just a thought, great job overall! 😃

Even though the chance of it becoming a game is basically zero at this point, if they could make it happen, I would definitely love to see it. Ian Flynn didn't say that it wouldn't ever happen, only that he doesn't see a way for it to happen the way things stand right now. It's depressing, but I get where he's coming from, and it is eerily similar to the situation with a certain artist that used to work on the Archie Sonic comics. I would not be against it, and there would of course be the possibility of it not having the same ending as Sonic X did. Because let's face it, it wasn't a very fulfilling ending, especially after everything Tails went through to protect Cosmo. This coupled with the fact that if you're going to really go that extra mile to be able to use the character and spend money on it, you're not going to just kill her off. That would be dumb. Maybe you might make it SEEM like she died, but then do what they did with Shadow. This would also have fans coming back for sequels in the hopes of seeing her again. You ever notice the Green Ranger character is always the one people want to see? I just find that amusing. Now that said, when Ian Flynn mentioned that there was nothing more he could do regarding the characters in the games or comics (and believe me, he tried; he was one of the biggest names attached to the movement), what he did NOT mention was the movies. He only mentioned the stuff he was in charge of. So if the movies are able to keep going past the third one, then there could still be a chance that we might see an adaptation there at some point (or something similar to the Metarex Saga). Paramount is the kind of company that has spent money in the past to get the rights to things for various movie adaptations they've done. In fact, they just did this with Live and Learn for Sonic 3. So them spending money to buy the rights to use certain characters isn't entirely outside of the realm of possibility. I cannot imagine that Jeff Fowler who worked on Shadow the Hedgehog would not be aware of the popularity of certain characters, in particular Cosmo. There is no way he doesn't know about this character. In fact, if you watch the movies closely, it becomes very apparent that not only is he aware of Sonic X, but in alot of ways the movies are emulating it. Almost nobody talks about this, but I can list over a dozen similarities between Sonic X and the two movies that are currently out (including some major similarities, like Sonic and his friends coming to Earth from another world, or GUN and Project Shadow originating on Earth and not on Sonic's world, and then there's Rachel who is a clear parallel to Ella). And this doesn't count the potential similarities that could show up in the third movie or Knuckles. So my advice if you want there to be a chance of this happening is this. Watch the Knuckles miniseries, watch Sonic 3 when it comes out and buy the DVDs. If Sonic 3 and Knuckles do well enough, then that is the best way to keep the movies going past the third one. And if they keep going, the chance of this happening is going to be higher.
