What if Texas Was Independent?? 😲
#Texas #Independent #Maps #Mapping #Geography #Maps #Mapping #Tourism #Travel #TravelMemories #TravelIdeas #FunFacts #Facts
Texas was once briefly its own country - but what would happen if it was so again?
If Texas left the US it would become the 50th most populous country in the world with 29.53 million people, just ahead of Nepal’s 29.1 million and just behind Yemen’s 29.82 million.
Texas would also become the 39th largest country in the world ahead of France but smaller than Turkey.
The US economy would lose a significant portion of its GDP, as Texas had a GDP of over $1.8 trillion in 2020, which is approximately 8% of the US total GDP.
Texas is also the second-largest trading partner of Mexico with $200.2 billion dollars of total trade between the two, and its departure from the US would potentially impact trade relationships with Mexico and other countries.

@@LakeGameCreepr - Ummm...guessing you know exactly nothing on this topic. During its Republic period 1836-1845 (when Texas got its independence from Mexico) the state was substantially bigger than it is today. Consider that Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM are inside the borders of the 1836 Texas. Furthermore, Texas had a strip of land that went into current day Wyoming. Furthermore, while Texas was (briefly) a part of Mexico (1821-1836) they were part of a combined province of Coahuila-Tejas that included much of modern day Mexico. No need to embarrass yourself. Next time either do 30 seconds of research or let somebody informed on the topic chime in first.
@colin1818
@colin1818 8 ай бұрын
@@LakeGameCreepr - "the borders it claimed were not what it controlled" Ahh, see now you've moved the goal posts to "only territory that is controlled". But that's not how we define a nation's borders, especially during the period of colonization - is it? Consider that France had massive amounts of land in the US (Louisiana) that they never even visited but were legally able to claim. So much so that they were able to sell it to the United States. Yet I don't hear a lot of arguments that Louisiana never belonged to France. Furthermore, there are wide swaths of US territory to this day that nobody remotely "controls" but yet is clearly designated as US land (I'm thinking extreme rural Alaska). Does that not count anymore? Of course it does! The reality is that Texas similarly had a legal claim to the land I reference. It was reflected on their maps and it was legally signed over to the US in 1846. If you want to move the goal posts then that's a different conversation (one that we would likely agree on). But you're playing semantic games and you know it. PS: Did you really "like" your own comment? Seriously? Kind of embarrassing.

So let's just assume you concede the earlier point and move on. "people hate texas" Do they really though? The evidence doesn't seem to bear that out - especially when you consider the alarming high rate of internal migration INTO Texas. No, what you've demonstrated is that the motivation of your comments from the beginning has been an anti-Texas animus. Feel free to have the last word if you wish. I went to San Antonio Texas to visit my cousin, so different than California. First I went to school for one season, the teachers actually teachers and explained how it works, instead of handing out just a paper packet in California, Texas is the reason why I got straight A’s, while in California isn’t that good at all, I got straight F’s. Everyone was more respectful in Texas, and a lot more cleaner than California than ever will. Learned a lot in Texas, learned about the history Alamo, how the math works, science, and more stuff than in California. In California the teachers just hands you a packet and tells you to do it, when your behind it’s your fault. Texas actually explains the material, and the prices in Texas isn’t ridiculously expensive than California like geez. To me California has a failed system of how they teach their students, while Texas is more surprisingly Superior.

Most of the electric grid is separate from the rest of the country, and there are no controls on cost, so any time the supply/demand favors demand, like during extreme temperatures, you can end up with an electric bill of thousands of dollars. @@RossLemon Texas Has overpayed the government annually by a $103B for about 20 years and that money was spent on other states, not Texas. Sure America would divide the debt by the state's population and ask Texas to pay up but overpaying by over a hundred billion yearly has definitely got to wipe atleast a trillion dollars off the debt that Texas would incur as a new nation.

Texas would collapse in less than 2 years. Immediately the USA would bring back all army reserves and forces to texas wouldnt have a military, and after that during the winter texas would lose most power and have no one to rely on so they would join the USA again. Dont forget how they will run out of resources in less than a year.

Texas was independent when the US annexed it, the Mexico fought a War with the US and got dominated losing all 12 Battles of the War. Then they lost half their territory and the US gave Santa Anna $15 Million as compensation for losing so much land. No land was stolen from Mexico, a lot of land was won from Mexico.
