@Tesseract7d: You're conflating points. I never said the Beatles themselves were influenced by Irish music; I said McCartney, like very many in Liverpool, had Irish ancestry. Do I really need to explain what the words, "not necessarily" mean? Or how people can maintain elements of there native culture wherever they settle? And now that I've said that, am I going to have to specify that it doesn't "necessarily" apply to the Beatles? Do I need to write an essay instead of saying "might"?

John and Paul were decended from Irish grandparents. Plus they came from Liverpool, which has the biggest Irish population in England. John Lennon was always accepted by the Irish as one of ours, and he himself (were he alive today) would tell you he would rather be Irish than English. I get Roy's take on this, it's funny and a very talented little piece, well put together and not to be taken seriously.
