And all that's besides that unlike with other races the Flood can't really make use of Tyranid ranged weapons on account of them being alive as well as drawing nutrients from the user and under the Hive minds control. I definitely agree that an encounter with a Halo ring in 40k would more than likely end in its destruction. I also think that, depending on how much time the Biologis are able to study the Flood(you know, before everything involving the Flood goes disastrously wrong), there's a 50/50 chance that the Flood may just get lumped in as a new Tyranid bioform. Theres also the fact that, if any of the survivors were paying attention, the Mechanicus now knows that there's six more of these facilities scattered about that they need to find and potentially also destory. Unlike the Hivemind you cannot cut off the Gravemind's powerful connection to it's forms. And unlike them they utilize and process the knowledge it gains on a far more potent fundemental level. And it doesn't forget. And even in defeat it will return in due time and remember everything that came before. And it also absorbs the Halo versions of souls to the point the Forerunners failed trying to bring a infected subject's mind back into a uninfected form. And when you add the Domain and Neural physics the Flood's true adapted peak before it reaches it's absolute limitation would be terrible to imagine and behold. The Flood bear many resemblances to Tyranids on the surface, but there are two main points to worry about. For one, the setting has the Tyrannids as a massive and established power, something that has to be managed and contained rather than outright eliminated, because focusing all of your strength on eliminating them in their entirety is only going to leave your flanks bare to attack. The Flood on the other hand, depending on the point of intriduction, more often than not have them start out as Flood spores. All spores have the ability to tap into their hive mind intelligence, but they have to work up to that level. In the start of their plague, they are very weak. The second relates to the first; while the 'nids begin as a stronger faction, one progress begins the Flood are by several orders of magnitude more scary. The Tyranids react to strength. The Flood outright steals strength. That cog boy? Once absorbed, the Flood knows how to run imperial machines. And Sigmar help the imperium should the Flood absorb a chapter apothecary and learn how astartes gene seed works. Granted, the Flood have a long way to go to work up from Flood spores to a proto-Gravemind, but once it assembles itself, that's when the danger truly begins for the galaxy. There's no spreading themselves too thing as they can just rain spores down on a continent and and turn the populace to their side. It's the zombie method of propagation; one begets one, two begets four begets eight begets sixteen and you get the idea. Prior to the manifestation of a proto-Gravemind is the only chance the factions in the setting have to eliminate the threat for good. At 11:30, you do make a slight mistake with the monitor's assessment, or just knowledge of the Halo ring. Yes, one Halo ring can wipe out all life in the galaxy, except for Necrons, people in the Warp, and possibly Tyranids depending on personal headcanon relating to how close in design they are to the Flood. The thing is that is the Halo Ring's highest power setting. Yes, it can eliminate all life in the galaxy, but its power can also be reduced to something as small as a single planet or solar system. It's in the Forerunner trilogy, not the games, but the rings are just stupidly OP weapons on par with the Necron Celestial Orrary.
@pyerack Жыл бұрын
Hate to be the nerd in the room but "akchually" Nids also steal Strength, they adapt based on biomass that they consume to better fight it's pray. A lot of the early seen Nids didn't have any weapons that resembled fire arms, that's something they adapted from encountering species that used them upon entering the 40k Galaxy. Also their scale really needs to be put into perspective since they not only surround the galaxy, the current tendrils everyone is fighting are barely scouting fleets. Flood is very much a snowball threat where once it starts rolling not only will you not be able to stop it, it just gets bigger. Nids are that snowball but having already rolled over who knows how many others, already gargantuan in size and based on the few Psykers that managed to tap into the Hivemind for a moment without going insane they were able to tell that the Tyrannids feel "hate" It's not so much that they're just blindly eating, the Hive is intelligent and if they wanted to communicate they very much could... They just don't want to. They hate us for some unknown reason. Who's to say that they aren't as intelligent as a Flood infestation in it's final evolution? (This is speculation from my part but I wouldn't be surprised if the Tyrannids had a similar backstory to the Flood where their origins are from some remnant of the "Ancient Ones" who seek revenge after the Necrons and C'tan genocided them by turning into a biological terror.) I actually find the Flood and Nids to be very much almost the same type of threat just in different stages of evolution and with different methods but ultimately using similar ideas. -Flood are space zombies that hijack bodies and evolve fast, learning from it's prey. -Nids are space bugs that eat and evolve fast, learning from it's prey. What the setting of 40k is currently facing with the Nids is essentially the equivalent of what it'd look like if the Flood managed to consume a whole galaxy and was making it's way to a new one, with it's mere scouting fleets being so deadly it already makes it like it could not possibly get worse. The Tyrannids do not become contained, at best they can be temporarily repelled. Inquisitors studying the Nids have come to the conclusion that the Imperium simply doesn't have enough man power, enough guns, enough tanks of any sort to properly stop the Hive mind at full force. The only reason I do consider Flood to be slightly more terrifying is because they don't just eat you and absorb any useful memories or biological components from you. The Flood is lot more personal and methodically rip your very memories from you while you're still aware but unable to do anything about it.

I like how you're trynna 1 up 40k. Like reading all of that it just seems like you only read the tip of the iceberg. But in all honesty and reality can the flood be a threat in 40k?, yes can they rule the galaxy? No. One of the best reasons is because of the use FTL if the flood take over the ship they won't be able to be protected from the warp and thats because the daemons and entities will tear the ship apart since the ghellar fields will not be up for the flood. Reason why I'm saying this is because the ghellar fields are used by dreaming pyskers plugged into the ship to make the ghellar field, if the psykers are turned they won't be able to make that ghllear field since the flood are just rotting zombie bodies. And you know if they do go into the warp well they're gonna get killed by the lost n damned souls and daemons. Their technology could easily allow them to fight the imperials into a stalemate, much like the Tau. Mechanicus would be excited for the prospect of living accient human technology, not some relics, no scraps, living and used. But all it would take to turn the terrans against the Imperium, would be just a single wondering trader forcefully taking control of a simple outer colony like Haven. Our Xelnaga shapeshifter Narud would adjust his plans to revive Amon, he could take forms of important people in the imperium, Like an ordo xenos inquisitor, or a highly regarded magos biologis priest, to continiue the newly upgraded Hybrid program in secret. Kerrigan would sent her zerg against him to kill the fucker, which would mean murdering a couple billion more civilian lives. Imagine tyranids but stupidly faster and quicker to adapt. Like, on the fucking battlefield, in the matter of hours, already improving. And the protoss...uhh, the protoss... Picture yourself a race with physical capabilities much alike or better in certain regards from astartes, with a psychic talents and power of Eldar, and technological marvels rivaling those of the necrons. And of course, since it's 40k, their Khala would imprint itself in the warp, creating a new entity with the power greater than any eldar god, while also being continiusly empowered. A.K.A, not vurnurable to the chaos gods, making the Khalai protoss invincible to their corruption.

@@kanadashyuugo873 Well, we know the halo rings specifically destroys the central nervous system of everything within the halo range to starve out the flood. Which I'm guessing was interwoven with certain aspects of the neural physics. It has Neural in the name. Without a central nervous system, the flood doesn't have anything to 'latch' onto. Which is why that works how it does. I'd presume, if the forerunners were in 40k .They'd make a new superweapon to destroy the warp. As we know that the warp manipulation can be found in genetics [human psykers, eldar psykers, tyranid psykers ork psykers, etc] it wouldn't be that much of a stretch for the forerunners to bend that particular aspect over their knee and spank it, but the problem arises when the warp, keeps going despite it. As even humans without any psyker potential still have souls, as evidenced by them being violently pulled out and them dying, as well as Nulls existing. And, since further most people can identify a null [for a lack of a better word of identifying, they usually go the way of the mutant...Mobbed and hanged.] by sight, hearing, smell, and the ilk. There is a quantifiable 'soul' that can be found within living things, and quantifiably removed. But. You can have a thing that has zero connection to any living thing, and that thing can be a warp artifact. A knife that killed a trillion people, or a rock that was worshipped by people a trillion miles away and never having actually seen it up close. Both are viable warp relics, as technically speaking. You can make **Anything** A god by providing enough raw faith. tldr: It's a new branch of metaphysics that the forerunners rip to shreds in an evening and simply retunes the halo arrays, but the halo arrays would have to be retuned to select "Soul energy" instead of "Spinal cords"

The discovery of a HALO ring would be a “shit your pants moment” for the imperium. A massive galaxy wide WMD would be taken as a priority one threat. A exploration fleet would be entirely helpless if it desired to destroy it, as the rings defenses would just absolutely obliterate any imperium vessel. Keep in mind the Forunners are themselves arguably more powerful than that of the Necrons with the crazy shit they built. There would be a massive debate raging regards to the Mechanicus whether to find a way to destroy it or study it, as the ring is technically xenos but as it requires a human to activate it , it would puzzle the tech priests. Abbadon along with the Eldar and Necrons would quickly catch wind of such a weapon and send their own forces. Abbadon especially would invest heavily in trying to capture it while the Eldar would try to prevent any faction from having it except themselves. Anyone who has the HALO ring would essentially have an instant “I win button” Then there’s the flood, if the flood is released then it can quickly become a galaxy wide extinction level event that not even the Necrons or Tyranids would be able to stop. I honestly see it as a Dawn of War scenario where every major faction(except maybe Tau) are fighting to control the ring. The Flood is released, alliances are formed to stop the parasite from spreading, only to have the heroes activate and destroy the ring self destruction style, wiping out the flood in the process.
@Furydragonstormer Жыл бұрын
"Alliances formed to stop the parasite" Hahaha! That's going to be impossible given how things are in 40k. We'd maybe see minor scale between a handful of officers and such, but to the scale of the entire Imperium with another? Not happening, the extensive xenophobia and division across the entire galaxy will be the reason the Flood would win. Heck, the Flood would even use this against them, especially the Imperium as if it reveals the right information, it can bring them down into purely infighting (How many actively get away with heretical actions by just being smart enough to hide them from the rest?)

Again, depends on how you view this. As for them being completely wiped out, it depends. We're ignoring the fact that it's a faction of HUMANS. If we're using post-war UEG/UNSC, they'd assimilate better into the Imperium. They'd be more open to the xenophobia of the Imperium, considering the first group of aliens the UEG/UNSC met tried to geno them. Plus, the Imperium is incredibly patient with newly discovered human worlds. We'd like to meme them holding a finger over the exterminatus button, but the Imperium is much more nuanced than that. As for other things, the UNSC isn't bad off. In terms of strength, speed and reaction time, Spartans are on par with Astartes. Firepower depends on if a Spartan is carrying that lovely laser cannon called the Spartan Laser. Durability is what the Spartans are missing out on. The officers of the ship begin the notice issues with the crew they will investigate. 9 hours since initial flood boarding the flood sensing that it will be discovered attacks transforming many of the crew into vile abominations of Grotesk fleshy forms. 10 hours since initial flood boarding fighting is sporadic all the across the ship the flood has cut off communications and jumped into the warp without warning. the flood is desperately infecting everyone they can. 13 hours since initial flood boarding the ship is quiet not a peep not a sound only the skittering fleshy forms can be heard. on a hive world an imperial guard walks his patrol route thinking of ways to kill his commissar he looks into the night sky nothing but empty void pitch black with the moon only lighting the sky like an angel guarding the night. until clouds moved as a ship enters out of the warp its long-erected shape now blocking the moon The fall of the galaxy has the begun.
@nonya1366 Жыл бұрын
The spread is presumably severely slowed down due to the Navigator being eaten, and having to reverse engineer some warp capable transportation. Not to mention the flood -might- lose to the warp, due to the fact that the flood lacks a similar defense to the warp as the tyranid hivemind. Further, the airducts of an imperial ship being interconnected while practical, doesn't always happen. Ironically sometimes not even intentionally- There is a slew of ships with interior designs to be hostile to boarding craft. Further, the mechanicus have a unique resistance to the flood- at least in certain numbers. As their spines have been regrafted and replanted. A infection form might get slowed down, something a flesh hating tech priest might slam the panic button on. And that tech priest would have to be infected. As most of the crew knows jack and shit about...Basically all of their technology. Servitors are brain nulled effectively, so they lack much information. That and, a lot of imperials tend to have a knee jerk 'explode the ship' before allowing it into enemy hands.

Craftworlder would probably have a farseer see into the future about the space plague, the average farseer warrior would spinkick the spore out of the air without much trouble, and would only really get in trouble if they hit the enemy force in number. But if they get overrun, the situation is going to worsen akin to if the flood had eaten Forerunner. Long stockpiles of memory. The craftworlders have to jump paths to stay sane but the gravemind will simply get multiclassed in a very short order. And they'd probably use their own world ship to tow the halo ring into the webway. Since "hey free craftworld." Dark eldar might find a way to torture flood forms by deliberately infected ""Labourers"" ala Mona Lisa, as being infected is a great agony and the dark eldar aren't above playing chicken with the universe for a quick snack. And the laughing god goof troupe would tell a joke so funny, the gravemind would laugh before they synchronized blackflip so hard the ring began to spin, before. I'd imagine after turning off gravity at just the right point so the ring becomes a centrifuge. Then use some Eldar Fuckery to make it keep the momentum, so that no one can leave the ring, but people can get trapped on the ring. Then they'd drop it off somewhere funny. Ironically, chaos might get along with the space plague if nurgle finds it. And we'd get to find out if the people in the flood hivemind keep their souls. But worse case scenario is the tyranids. Whoever wins that one. Everyone else loses. The tyranids either eat the flood by sheer attrition, mutate to utilize the flood's adaptations and proceed to 360 no scope the galaxy faster then you can say "Wait what do you mean the forerunners are still in the gravemind?" Or, the flood eats that hive fleet, proceeds to adapt even killier warrior forms, probably make their infection form into a gun, and utilizes the mass mind to become a psyker entity, complete with shadow in the warp. The gravemind already has telepathy it wouldn't be that large of a leap. I'd imagine the gravemind would use it's power to simply command people to leap into the hive.

It's a big shame that the original concept of thw Forerunners being intended to be humans in the vision and narrative of Bungie was completely erased by 343 Industries. Imagined if they heard the Forerunners were Ancient Humans far before even the Dark Age of Technology and Earth in general. That would have been interesting. As for more Halo constructs if one were to appear in Warhammer 40k that would be the most shocking in sheer scale and implications that would make even the Necrons be perplexed, it would be the Halo metaphysical information gathering contruct known as the Domain. Created by the Precursors. If any Mechanicus guy were to expose themselves to this large ocean of information and so much knowledge it could drive them crazy to a level perhaps worse then the Mechanicus guy who interacted with the Breath of the Gods super weapon. Think about it very few of the Mechanicus would be able to resist such a temptation and lure of so much abundance of free knowledge which doesn't seem to have any Chaos taint in it. And how it is effectively superior then the Noosesphere. Those who would not endure and persevere would likely becime obsessed with it. And it is not like the Imperium holds any way or method to destroy such a construct. It will still exist no matter what they do and no machine spirit, necron, or chaos is going to be capable of corrupting or changing that as it is too powerful and durable to disrupt. And if anyone does try they may stirr up a mighty intelligence that maybe dwelling within there and would be aware of their interference. There is some theories that delve into how the Gravemind remembers everything that came before and knows all that knowledge so extremely fluently and some suggest that the Gravemind's consciousness either lurks within Slipspace and/or the Domain itself where all that knowledge is stored. There are even some implementations that the Flood are the Precursors as planned and that they are manifestations of the Living Universe's will to experience sweetness and sorrows of life. And that the Living Universe could access and alter the Domain when it wants.

The Mechanicus would think a microwave a machine god relic and worship it. The Halo and its AI would be considered unholy and attempt to destroy it, while others would stumble around and release the flood. My question is, what would happen if the Halo fired its weapons into the warp? Or, what would the Old Ones and/or the Necrons do with it?

How effective the ring could of been against tyranids and orcs at the edge of the galaxy
@HypospaceYT8 ай бұрын
Hey I see you've got a few comments going so I'll do my best to respond to them all! 😄 So if the ring was lit any life form that has a nervous system has it immediately fried. For the orks it's a death sentence to those that are in the vicinity... but it wouldn't be for ork spores, so what would happen is a majority would die but they would ultimately come back with no real issue overall. As for the Tyranids it's a different story, Tyranids are exceptionally adaptable but it takes time for a new Tyranid form to fully adapt to a situation. If they were hit by the burst of radiation (assuming they aren't immune already) then a huge portion of a hive fleet is immediately gone if not destroyed and unlike the orks the only way to get their numbers back up is through consuming biomass. If damaged enough it may be that an entire hive fleet or even fleets are destroyed... Alongside a huge chunk of the rest of the galaxy! Basically it can be super effective for both but less so for the orks as they will be able to come back faster 🙂

Bro you need to revisit this, the first 3 Halo games , books and the animated series Halo Legends suggested that the Forerunners are humans and that humanity are their descendants. Halo 1 Gulty Spark welcome Chief and says he’s the Reclaimer and that he must fulfill what his forefathers began 100,000 years ago after scanning his dna which went on for 3 games. Halo Legends began with Cortana saying that she knows the entire human history and their eons of war which then cuts to the Forerunners trying to defend one of their worlds against the flood. Btw they look very human and even had 5 fingers. I believe when the humans arrive at the halo the monitor there would have welcomed them and tried to get them to fire the ring after telling them the history of the constellations and locations of it. If you go further down the rabbit hole of the Halo lore you would see that there are a lot of symbolism from the Bible. Which can explain the human-Forerunner war and the emergence of the flood because the humans are sinning by geocoding their brothers which makes sense cause in the later games they talk about Precursors created Humanity and forerunners. Pretty hectic but I believe it all ties in together to show humans are the same as the Forerunners . Anyway I bet the monitor of the ring would have helped the imperium of man and passing them on a lot of forerunner tech which humans from the 40k universe would have taken advantage of and lead along the monitor to some extent since they still probably see AI as heresy.🤷♂️

I wonder how long the flood could mess about before Nurgle shows them what true virulence is.
@nestorsi52537 ай бұрын
Flood: *begins to create pure combat forms immune to Nurgle's diseases* Information: The Flood has pure forms, which are biomass-based combat forms that can be altered by the Gravemind. It can create any type of form as required by the battle, such as pure forms the size of a mountain, with mass destruction damage and planetary-level resistance, also being immune to any type of diseases. The worst part is that the entire Flood army can have those stats in an instant.
@jeremygair40077 ай бұрын
@nestorsi5253 just because you say it's immune to everything doesn't mean it is. Gravemind is not all powerful. As evidenced by its destruction. Read a codex which details the warp. None of those points address that. You see you forget that space magic > space practicality in the sense one doesn't have to follow even its own universe rules. And Nurgles scale in the warp. Infinite. Good luck invading that. The universe of 40K literally states the only reason the chaos gods do not roll the physical universe is due to their lack of interest alone. So basically, flood shows up, Nurgle decides to roll over, flood dies.
@nestorsi52537 ай бұрын
@@jeremygair4007 It's easy not to want to accept an enemy you can't win against, let alone parasites who are the gods of all Halo. Literally everything I mentioned is monstrous and unprecedented in 40k, and we're not just talking about a few beings, we're talking about a total army with the same powers and abilities as the species they infect. Like a Flood psychic form thanks to the Eldars, to be able to enter the Warp and create a monstrous army to eliminate demons and plagues of Nurgle. Also, the Flood is far superior to Nurgle and the other Chaos gods when they obtain the Keymind; at that stage, the Flood becomes omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent because it becomes the entire universe, and not even the Chaos gods could do anything to it because everything in the universe, even beings that alter reality in real space and the Warp (because they are part of the universe), is under its control. Nurgle and the others stand no chance; they are mere jokes.
@jeremygair40077 ай бұрын
@nestorsi5253 all you have confirmed, is your lack of knowledge. When a band of humans 10's of millennia older technology than you can take you down. The big bad of the universe of those more advanced humans, won't break a sweat.
@nestorsi52537 ай бұрын
@@jeremygair4007 Sure, that ancient human civilization defeated the Flood with a Halo ring (created by the Forerunner civilization, which is a species superior or equal to the Necrons) that prematurely fired at the Ark. With a weapon like that, you win against anything living (the factions) or monstrous constructions (technology) in the Warhammer 40k universe. Additionally, that battle was a test by the Flood to the human species, which is the successor of Forerunner technology, and they passed it. However, despite the victory, the Flood has not been eliminated yet because the final test is still pending. If you know the lore, you would know this basic information.
@John2r1 Жыл бұрын
Um the UNSC is the Reclaimers. The UNSC are by Imperial standards Abhumans who's genetics are altered allowing them to use the ancient technologies. The Forerunners are via genetic manipulation related to the UNSC humans . So they would be finding a technology of a long dead Abhuman or possibly xenos origins. They wouldn't really know the difference. The technology wouldn't be known to them at all. So technologically, they wouldn't have a clue who made it. Thus hearing that a long dead Empire called the Forerunners which literally translates to those who came before them. And finding out that the rings are part of a network of megastructures that where used as weapons against the Flood. And wiped out all intelligent life. And that they are related to the descendents of that ancient empire. May or may not lead to them freaking out. If they put 2 and 2 together they would quickly surmise that the rings were built by their prehistoric ancestors and thus are beyond ancient archotech. The Flood however would be a reason to either activate or destroy the ring in an attempt to prevent the spread.

Tyranids. The way the flood works, the moment they 'develop' psychic sense, either one of the Chaos Gods get them, or the Shadow in the Warp (it drives all psykers insane with a billion voices, FAR MORE than the flood EVER had if we take it as canon that the current tyranid invasions are just the feelers of a multigalactic sized main swarm)
