People seem to be making fun of the discussion or idea of what would life be without the moon, because the moon exists. Those people are missing the point. By inquiry into these types of questions, we learn about, for one thing, how precious life on earth is, and how rare it might be in the cosmos. On a side note, if you looked at other questions with such a flippant attitude, you would stop learning to a large degree. As an example, you might say, when learning about the origin and evolution of the universe itself, why study the Big Bang, dark energy, dark matter, etc. It happened, those things exist, so forget it, you might say. What a mistake that would be.

A very interesting presentation. It adds to the possibility of a solution to the Fermi Paradox being the rare earth hypothesis.

If it didn't the Earth would rotate randomly and not fixed on the equator. This means there would not be consistent seasons and harm plant growing cycles. Humans would be nomads in search of food. Navigation would be very difficult.

@@holocene2164 I agree. We should use that same science of 1969 and go back there today. By the way it all happened under just one administration and way less technology than we have today. Back then the moon lander was made up of cardboard panels, foils, rods and duct tape. Get a NASA picture and zoom in.

What if the moon didn’t exist? What if we quit talking about things that will not ever happen and will never make a difference in our lives because it will never happen! The fact is if we didn’t have a moon none of this would ever exist. But we do have a moon, so why is it even an issue?

It's a normal thought experiment in many fields of science Understanding a thing and the influence it has on other objects by trying to figure out what would happen If that Thing was gone The science built on that has a positive influence in your life I would be willig to bet
