A thought I've not pondered before; the connecting of our never-ending daily battle to the story of the Prodigal son. This is rich, rich comfort and rich, rich Gospel. Thank you!!

Saint Peter asked Jesus “Lord am I to forgive my brother even if he had committed 7 sins?” Jesus replied “yes, but also forgive him if he had committed 7x77 sins” 7x77 is about 500. This of course does not mean God will only forgive us 500 times, but it’s Jesus telling Saint Peter basically “if you think 7 is a lot, then do I have news for you”

Even though I knew the answer, it is still comforting to be reminded of it from a brother & such a wise & learned brother to boot! God Bless you & your family 🙏🏼

Amen, I’m falling so hard in my life, I’m ashamed of my failures, but Jesus strength is in my weakness. Jesus grace teaching us not to sin and walk in the light as he is in the light. Shalom brothers and sisters.❤

What about the verse that says something like, My spirit will not always strive with a man... The bottom line is this, God knows our hearts. And God knows who belongs to Him. He knows those that put their trust in Him. All of us sin. We are sinners saved by grace. Jesus died for those sins. Turn to Jesus every day. Never stop repenting, never stop trusting Him, and never stop walking in His ways. I went through a long period of time where I was a back sliding Christian, but God kept on calling me back. I finally came back. Have I been perfect since then? No.

I would like to hear your thoughts on Hebrews 6:3….. I believe what you just said and believe that as long as a man has breath that he can call on the name of the Lord for salvation….. but I haven’t heard many explanations of this scripture

I agree, friend, the only way for God to cut us off is when we never try to repent

Jesus said, "whoever puts his hand to the plow and looks back is unfit for the kingdom of heaven". How does this fit into your teaching? Btw, I've had to repent a lot and I've experienced a lot of grace, so I've experienced what you're talking about. But how does that scripture fit in?

Good question. Jesus didn't say the Father would not forgive you, but rather, in that state of wishy-washeyness you are of no benefit to the Kingdom. The blood of Jesus determines where we will spend eternity. Our work, our faithful steadfastness will determine how we spend eternity. Our level of reward if you will. The Word exhorts us to be faithful that we might receive a FULL reward. We will all be tried by fire and our works that are not gold, silver and precious stones will be burned up.

It's often preached as a wanting those old ways, those old sins. I think it's about spending you time and energy in regret and shame at the past. The Kingdom is not about what you've done. It's about who you are and who He is. It's about pressing forward for the upward call in Christ Jesus, leaving it all behind.

Sir what if the prodigal never gets invited home ??? What if the parents die off before you could ever make things right. I lost my dad this month 2years ago I was a pastor's kid who chose a different path and that left me shunned never welcome again what happens to us the lost prodigal sorry but never forgiven????

I think the story is a metaphor for Christ's forgiveness, Christ represents the father welcoming back his repentant son (us sinners): yes, it can happen where people either refuse to forgive or are denied the option to do so, but that does not happen with Christ.

Then, as hard as it is, we await our heavenly reunion, where peace will not only by the norm, but all there is. May that peace of Jesus, even now, be yours.

But, what of the Prophets and the verses they left wherein God tells Judah or Israel, "that's enough of that, I'm not going to get in the way of what's coming to you anymore!"? Such verses have to do with Earthy consequences. And it has more to do with wearing out the Flesh, the flesh that should be tamed and good for good, a wearing out that WE afflict OURSELVES with.

funny how I've been told exactly the opposite from other christians. They are sure that once someone is an apostate, then this god is quite done with them. IT's always curious how you guys can't agree on so many things.

@@pdyt2009 That's quite a lie, Pdy. Curiosu how christians don't agree on: free will vs predestination who is saved how someone is saved what baptism does and how to do it how to interpret the bible what morals their god wants what heaven and hell are Curious how "any group of humans" isn't the cults that claim that some imagniary being has told them the one and only truth. So your attempts to excuse your cult's ignorance and contradictory claims fail miserably.

You're strugling with habitual sin birdie? 'Neither do I condemn thee: go, and SIN NO MORE' - John 8:11. The mentality here should be "How to overcome sin by surrendering to the outworking of the grace and power of Christ", and not 'It's OK. He'll understand.'
