There are several fascinating parallels between the Parable of the Prodigal Son and Old Testament stories. Most amazing of all is how Esau (of all people!) is the OT equivalent of the father in the parable. Oh, I loved this take on this story! Boy, those Pharisees! I can’t go into detail, and I don’t remember who it was that I was listening to when I heard this take on it, but in essence it was this: the son returning from the pigpen (his wanderings and waywardness) was exhibiting law in order to be accepted by the father, i.e., “I shall do this and I shall do that.” The father, on the other hand, rushes out to meet him with arms of grace, forgiveness and acceptance before the son can speak a word. Grace offered in place of an attempt at self righteousness. What a magnificent God!

Dr. Chad so good. I listened only to first few minutes, had to stop as tears rolled down and write this message. I am the youngest out of four children. My oldest sister was put on a pedestal by my dad and my two brothers were and are put on a pedestal by my mom. I am the youngest and was called useless, worthless, good for nothing. Lo and behold God took my life in 2013 and met me powerful on my bedroom floor as I was contemplating no use for this life. He gave a powerful testimony and two of my siblings came to Christ. My dad was saved before he passed from Covid. God turned the tables to go after the outcast to change the story and bring my siblings to humility. He used me to break generational curses as he reminded me as all were from pagan roots. Praise the LORD ! Today I am In seminary learning more about God and desiring to glorify Him alone for He is Worthy!!

Unfortunately, Genesis wasn't written in Greek, so using Greek translation in a Hebraic scripture and text, is absurd.. furthermore, and you Christians, please understand this. Genesis is the first chapter in the Holy TaNakh, the Jewish Bible, of Judaism, Judaism, is a Religion, the official religion of Israel, why you Christians feel you can take another religion, and chop it up, to comport to your Greeco, Roman religion, because some guy, named Paul felt the Jews were "blinded" because they rebuked his ministry is further absurd, the Apostle Paul, wrote Epistles, letters, to seven churches, these letters were not from the voice of God or Yeshua speaking thru Paul, Paul claimed his writings were from the Holy Spirit? or Unction?...and millions around the world have claimed God has spoken to them, or thru them?..question is,? what God?... please be considerate to the Jews and their Holy Book's which were written in Hebrew, and written to a chosen people, covenant people, Judaism is not an "Old Testiment" because some person named Paul or Constantine, decided to take this Religion and cut and paste it into yours...Judaism had been around for thousands of year's before Christianity came along and Yeshua kept Torah Law, not the Talmud, he practiced Judaism, as there was no Christianity yet, remember this please.
