I think one of the most important things on the Doom soundtrack, or argent metal, is experimentation, the fact that Mick used a lot of unusual stuff for doom's soundtrack like chainsaws samples or pentagram shaped stuff, these experimentations lead to new formulas to the result, that is the fundamental to the result, the result is more about the emotion you are trying to convey then how you do it, Vega core for example, doesn't have typically heavy guitars sound but it stills convey the emotion of a Doom soundtrack.
@ihavekalashnikovyoudomath92753 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is, I can use an orchestra for DooM music, as long as it's angry
@mcpatrick25113 жыл бұрын
@@ihavekalashnikovyoudomath9275 basically yes, I mean an orchestra was converted in Doom music with the Bloodborne soundtrack, the same could be done, of course with a bit of changes. For example the cellos and trombones could do the heavy guitar parts, and violins the synthetic noises, the piano could do the same as the violins but accompanying the guitars in some parts with heavy notes, like the heavy drop part in BFG division, the percution doesn't change much.

Man, I built a virtual "doom generator" in reaper about a day after i watched the GDC lecture...proceeded to sample as many tools as I had, and built a bunch of crying and moaning synths with vital (as well as some with mower and weedeater wavetables) and as soon as I started working out covers with this soundset, I found myself immediately wanting to create custom sounds for each piece, rather than just be like "yeah, i used doom sounds" I like the analysis on your process, it's kind of reassuring. I've been stuck on a couple thinking "it doesn't sound DOOMy enough" but they sound cool as shit with the soundsets I've designated. The sine destroyer/sequencer...rack thing is amazing for generating awesome full electronic atmospheres and base layers, as well as kicks. Anyway...yeah...since so many people enjoy this channel, I'm going to take this as reasurance and keep doing them the way i'm doing them, instead of trying to make them "fit" precisely. This might be asking a lot, but do you think you could go even further with replicating Mick's music by doing a track in multiple pieces like Mick does? Mick's tracks are made in pieces because the music changes based on the player's input, so this would give you the chance to experiment with creating a track that's separated into pieces but can fit together in many different ways, as well as give us a way to make community mixes of your tracks like Koma does with the tracks from DOOM 2016 and Eternal. I recently listened to Koma's Rip & Tear mix and there were parts in there I didn't even know Mick had created. I wish you could still watch Mick's livestream for DOOM Eternal's music, he showed what his tracks look like and explained what certain tracks were used for and how each tracks had multiple ending, as well as the fact that apparently, in DOOM 2016, there were special music pieces meant for glory kills, like a way to stop the music without it just being a sudden silence.

He kind of did that with his Hades cover, but it would be cool to see
@comorbiddisorder3 жыл бұрын
@@theronanempire2290 I don't mean mixing different tracks together, I mean making one track with multiple segments that can come together in multiple ways to create a nice track.
