I love how episode 1 confirmed that no matter who gets the super soldier serum, Steve and Peggy's love is always constant and true. Endgame: After sacrificing his life many times, fighting for what he believed in, and being a hero to all, Steve left it behind to be with the love of his life. What If Season Finale: Even if there was a small chance, Peggy took the opportunity to ask if it was ok for her to go back to the love of her life. Heartbreaking and emotional, but the Watcher, without spoiling her universe, simply says that her universe needed Captain Carter. In a way, her desire was probably granted. But seeing Peggy also yearn to find an opportunity to go back to be with Steve is also fitting.

Seeing both Peggy and Steve wanting the chance to go back to a time when they could be together was fitting. Of course, then, to give the viewers hope, Peggy was returned to the exact moment she left. So she wouldn't have any idea about the "someone" in the Hydra Stomper until after reuniting with Nat.

Most of these type of hero fights end with a sacrifice, Watcher just made sure that the one who was sacrificed was a greedy monster whose only desire was to gain power and destroy the world around him. Disappointed that it was just Wanda. And what does this say about the Hulk or Spider-man, Scott's head and gimpy T'Challa? That was the only episode that didn't get any closure.

So... here's a funny thing. With Killmonger literally removed from his universe, there's nothing to stop Pepper and Shuri from retaking the throne of Wakanda. Maybe for season 2, that's the What If Shuri became Queen and the new Black Panther? With Killmonger put inside the micro-dimension under the watchful eye of Dr. Strange, he simply vanished from that universe and there's nothing to stop Shuri to right the wrongs that he caused or created in that universe.

Also, if you're confused about the placement of Ragnarok Tony Stark and Mad Titan Gamora in this episode, it was originally supposed to be a part of the first season as an episode. But, because of Covid, they delayed the episode to Season 2. I also cannot wait for the eventual live-action debut of Jeffrey Wright as Uatu. What a marvelous first season. Also, rest in paradise, Chadwick Boseman. This episode of What If was his official final onscreen performance and appearance.

Here’s an idea I had for a “What If” episode that I’d like to see in Season Two. This story explores how the Time Heist in _Endgame_ would have differed if the Reality Stone (Aether) had never been given to the Collector on Knowhere but instead remained in the vault on Asgard along with the Space Stone (Tesseract), despite the concerns that it might be unwise. Here’s what I think would happen in that story: For starters, Thor would still travel back in time to 2013-Asgard but would now arrive shortly after the events of the _Dark World_ movie instead of during. Also, instead of going back with Rocket Raccoon, he would now go back with Scott Lang (Antman). The story-reason being that they can’t just rematerialize directly inside the vault because it’s protected by a magic forcefield, and thus they need to materialize just outside the vault and break in. To do this, Lang shrinks down to fit through the door’s keyhole and then grows back to regular size and opens the vault from the inside to let Thor in. The pair then simply grab the two stones and head home. As for how the Time Stone and the Mind Stone would be acquired in this alternate Time Heist, we would now have a trip back to 2015 immediately following the opening events of the _Ultron_ film, instead of having the mission to 2012. In this version, only two Avengers are needed: Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff. Here, they initially arrive on the roof of the New York Sanctum where they convince the Ancient One to let them borrow the Time Stone after promising to return all the stones to their rightful place once they are done with them. After being given the stone, Romanoff returns home with it while Stark activates his Ironman suit and flies to the Avengers headquarters where Loki’s sceptre is being brought after having been recovered from Baron Strucker. There, Stark activates his suit’s “stealth mode” to render himself invisible and then waits until the scepter is left alone in the lab so he can just grab it and transport back to 2023. This leaves us with the trip to 2014-Morag/Vormir to recover the Power Stone and Soul Stone. Now since Steve Rogers was replaced by Romanoff in the new 2015 mission, and since Rocket was replaced by Lang in the 2013 mission, these two instead join Rhodes and Nebula while Clint Barton sits out the mission entirely since he already played his part by taking the test-run to his pre-snap home. Hulk also sits out from the missions since he will play his part in reversing the snap afterward. In this new version of the 2014 mission, Rhodes and Rocket wait on Morag for Peter Quill to arrive while Rogers and Nebula fly the ship to Vormir. The Orb containing the Power Stone is then obtained in a very similar manner as in the original film - i.e., with Rhodes knocking out Quill, and Rocket stealing his tool for opening the temple. Once inside, Rhodes pulls the Orb through the forcefield which destroys a layer of his armor, but does not damage his physical body, and the pair return to 2023. Meanwhile, Rogers and Nebula arrive on Vormir where Rogers is initially and naturally surprised to see the Red Skull again. After he and Nebula learn that obtaining the Soul Stone requires the seeker to lose someone they love, the dialogue between them has Nebula revealing that she never allowed herself to grow emotionally attached to any of the other Avengers for fear of being hurt again, whereas Rogers has grown to love and respect Nebula as a highly valued teammate. Hence, Nebula then jumps off the cliff before Rogers can stop her, thereby allowing him to take the stone. Prior to all this, however, Nebula’s 2014-counterpart starts projecting future images, thereby alerting 2014-Thanos to the Time Heist and sending him on course to Vormir now instead of Morag. Thankfully, he barely arrives too late, and Rogers is able to transport back to 2023 with the stone just before Thanos is able to beam him up to the ship to capture him. Nevertheless, unbeknownst to Rogers, the 2014-Thanos now knows about the future. Back in the present-day (2023), after mourning for Nebula, the team constructs a new gauntlet which Hulk uses to reverse the snap and bring everyone back, but there is no battle afterward with the 2014-Thanos, meaning that Stark, much like Romanoff, now survives. The team then uses the time machine again to return the stones in the following manner: First, Stark returns to 2015 and rematerializes in the lab of the Avengers headquarters immediately after his earlier future-self departed so he can return Loki’s scepter with the Mind Stone back inside. Likewise, Romanoff also returns to 2015 to give the Time Stone back to the Ancient One. Next, the Tesseract and Aether are returned to 2013-Asgard by Thor and Lang who afterward sneak over to Odin’s wine cellar to grab a celebratory drink before heading home. Meanwhile, the Orb with the Power Stone is returned to 2014-Morag by Doctor Strange who afterwards uses his magic to heal the knocked-out Peter Quill and then erase his memories (and rewind his walkman) so that he will continue dancing toward the temple just like in the original _Guardians_ film. Lastly, Rogers returns the Soul Stone to 2014-Vormir where he afterwards tells the frustrated Red Skull of his intension to return back to the late-1940s and reunite with Peggy Carter. In the epilogue sequence, the 2014-Thanos is still hovering over Vormir, which allows him to secretly witness Rogers giving the Soul Stone back. Thanos then goes down to the planet after Rogers has left and learns more about the future Time Heist from the Red Skull -- including how the Soul Stone needs to be reobtained. As a result of all he has learned, Thanos now decides to tweak the latter part of his plans. For starters, he will allow the future events leading up to 2018 unfold as they did originally so he can obtain the six stones in more or less the same way as before. The main difference however is that instead of using the six stones afterward to only snap out half the universe, he will now instead reboot the entire universe so that no one will ever know that the snap happened in the first place, thereby preventing it from ever being reversed. Any thoughts? Let me know.

@@CaptainBars nothing personal but he's right you put way too much for a 30 mins. episode and your story is a rehash of endgame with few minor tweaks just like the captain carter episode where everyone's main critic about that episode is the story is too similar to captain america's story and look at all the best episodes of this series,all of them are original stories we never saw inside the mcu like starlord(tchalla),Strange supreme and the ultron episode. If the story is what if the other half survived the snap?then you already have new stories to tell since this happened, a new surviving members of avengers like falcon, spiderman,dr.strange,bucky and etc. with a different plan to stop thanos and bring everyone back like can they create a time machine? since tony was one of the people that got snapped,no time jumps or maybe another fight with thanos again using his infinity stones against the new avengers? Will they win or will they lose? See? How so many refreshing new stories to tell?

If you look closer, when Strange opens the portal to the zombie universe, you can see all The Avengers are there and not yet killed by The Wasp and the remaining survivors, so I assume Strange took all the zombies and the infected Avengers from an earlier point in time of the zombie episode. It's possible that Thanos has not yet arrived on Earth, which means he would not be infected. Still, it leaves the question of what would Thanos do in a universe where there are no Avengers to stop him.

Lego has had a Sakarran Iron Man set out since September 1. It comes with 3 minifigures, Tony Stark, Valkyrie and the Watcher. I think this due to the necessary lead time to create the set and produce them, then the episode getting moved to season 2. Whoops!

I don't know why everyone are thinking it is a contradiction that the stones work in a different universe. Disney+ Loki were not stating that the stones couldn't work because they were outside of their original universe. Remember that Loki's magic didn't work in the TVA either. They were implying that it was the governing power that runs the TVA that had a way to nullify their capabilities. We don't know if it is Kang who discovered how to do this or if he discovered a location like pocket dimension with certain rules that causes this to happen. Don't forget that whole plot of End Game was the Avengers time traveling to different universes to take their stones and bring them back to their universe to use and bring everyone back to life and then return the stones and munir to those same universes they took them from so that they don't cause variant universes. There is still a multiverse at this time. A variant universe was one that didn't follow the timeline that the TVA deemed as the sacred timeline. That's why Mobius told Loki that him killing his mother happens again and again and again. Time travel is universe travel. The time space GPS Tony created, allows them to navigate the multiverse and return them to their own universe.

People keep thinking about the stones like the gems in the comics. The movies had 10 years to say that they don’t work outside of their universe. They never do. The only time we see them not working is in the TVA where we’re told explicitly that magic doesn’t work.

They've already established that the Infinity Stones will work in every universe whether they originate from there or not (see Ultron using them in EVERY multiverse he defeats). Unfortunately, destroying them is much tougher which is what Gamora's machine couldn't do since it was calibrated to her universe's stones. (NOTE: The stones didn't work in the TVA because that place works under a whole different set of rules since it probably sits outside of time or space or reality or maybe even in the Quantum Realm).

Marvel has never directly said that the Infinity Stones won't work in other universes in the movies/shows of the MCU.. Itt appears the canon they are setting is that they just have to be in *a* universe, which the TVA isn't; it exists outside space and time. I've heard the comics set the rules that the stones only work inside their home universe, but the MCU is seemingly going a different direction.

Why do people keep saying the stones should not work in other universes? This is not the comics. *LITERALLY* the plot of Endgame was taking stones from one universe to use in another. Is there some collective amnesia when it comes to Endgame?

as far as i remember the director said that the stones do not work on anything not from their respective universe so it only works if it is used on a medium from their respective universe so Ultron has been redirecting its powers through him in his time in the multiverse so it does make sense Strange Supreme grabbed him before using his time stone

I think the stones can work on other universes. I believe it doesn’t work in the TVA only because they live in an alternate dimension between timelines which is a little different than being in a different universe. Either that, or they just have a way to depolarize the stones.

I’ve read that the stones work becose it must be used by someone from their universe so when Ultron used them it makes sense but Kilmonger shouldn’t have been able to. That’s at least what the director of What if said and it makes sense Why in LOKI Loki couldn’t use them (he could use just the tesseract from his timeline). But still I really loved this episode (even tho I think Ultron with Infinity stones and super AI created by one of the stone should be able to resist Zola’s virus and even be the one who destroys the virus itself, but Idk).

The infinity stones can & do work in other universes. The stones we see in Loki are de powered as they are from timelines that no longer exist. Plus the TVA is outside of the multiverse not within a sole universe.

Infinity Stones don't work in the TVA, which is outside the timeline. They definitely work in other timelines though, if they didn't then Endgame wouldn't have worked.

why does everyone think that the stones dont work outside their own universes? i know thats a rule in the comics but its never been one in the mcu. and i know that they didn't work in the tva, but that's because NO MAGIC works in the tva. plus we just introduced the multiverse with loki and this show, so when did they set up any rules about infinity stones across the multiverse?

Thr stones seems to work inside universes but not outside of them like the TVA place since there is a point out of time and space so as long as the stones are inside a universe they should work fine even if there's 2 of the same stone on the same place

True the stone only work in their respective universe (timeline it does work but the place with no time like Citadel at the End of Time (Sacred Timeline) & the TVA does not but Loki kinda made the multiverse so the timeline doesn’t work anymore because it made into different lines so creating the multiverse and the infinity stone will not work which still confused me with the different Loki oh well that’s why I hate time travel stuff it’s cool but so many stuff that doesn’t make sense and things that they don’t repeat but effect the other people (Charlotte Anime)

This finale was amazing. I love that captain Carter and black widow are best friends :). I can’t for season 2 to see the gamora story and I hope to see more captain Carter. Plus it’s bizarre how Zola and killmonger are the final threats.
