@@tantibusking7095 i would say that they were both very impressive when performing, but due to technical capabilities, paganini would obviously be able to move around and express his emotions more freely than Liszt could, and the violin does remain naturally louder than the piano anyways so the spotlight would be all on him, with Liszt being a background musician, still drawing eyes towards him.

This really shows how much of a genius Liszt was as an arranger/transcriber. He perfectly captured the melodic essence of the 24th caprice while taking it to a whole new level and expanding it sonically. I don't care what anyone says, his version is a superior piece of music to the original paganini version.

​@@violintegral​ I prefer Pag 24 on the violin, but Liszt's La Campanella is a far superior piece to the original violin. The range and the bassline do wonders to the piece, and it's not as over cluttered as some of his other Pag transcriptions. He did make about 4 different versions of La Campanella though. The Pag etude #3 version is the most popular and the cleanest. The 1838 version feels much too noisy, and the versions that appear in S420 and S700 only have a few variations.
