Vietnam would be better if the US won. US had plans to develop South Vietnam and guide it towards democracy and wealth, similar to US allies in East Asia like Taiwan, South Korea, and British ruled Hong Kong.

@@0IIIIII Tbh as a left wing American I think Vietnam's mixed economic model is pretty cool. "Guiding to democracy and wealth" can certainly work out like in the countries you mentioned but it can also backfire in places like Russia. Not to surprising tbh. America invaded Vietnam once, and China invaded Vietnam like… how many times? I don’t remember lol. There was also an 1000-year era of Chinese occupation until 938, there was also an occupation era during Ming Dynasty too. Talking about modern history, China also invaded Vietnam because Vietnam fought back and pulled down Pol Pot regime. That’s why a lot of people find China as the bigger evil

A cool fact when former vietnam veterans from usa have gone back there they've always been welcome and have even talked to former vietcong and the footage is really wholesome although I'm sure that pilots probably wouldn't be very well received you know due to the bombings in which we managed to somehow drop more bombs on vietnam than the entirety of all the bombs in ww2 excluding Hiroshima and nagasaki
@fortis992
@fortis992 Жыл бұрын
Vietnam War bombing thus represented at least three times as much (by weight) as both European and Pacific theater World War II bombing combined, and about fifteen times total tonnage in the Korean War. Given the prewar Vietnamese population of approximately 32 million, U.S. bombing translates into hundreds of kilograms of explosives per capita during the conflict. For another comparison, the atomic bombs dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki had the power of roughly 15,000 and 20,000 tons of TNT, respectively (Grolier 1995). Since general purpose bombs - by far the most common type of bomb used in Vietnam and in our dataset - are approximately 50% explosive material by weight, each atomic bomb translates into roughly 30,000 to 40,000 tons of such munitions. Measured this way, U.S. bombing in Indochina represents 100 times the combined impact of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs. - The Long Run Impact of Bombing Vietnam, University of California

No... It was not that communism was "a trend", it's just that many nationalists (who didn't support communism) would simply not stand for the South, as they were backed up mainly by France. Most of them saw the US as a new overlord, and them knowing how badly they were treated in French Indochina, they fought for the north. It's a shame how many nationalists got lost in communism during the Cold War; a good example is Castro. He was a cuban nationalist who was even friends with Francisco Franco, but knowing that nationalist inclined ideologies (fascism and such) were in a low, he gave up to the communist madness.

You can blame crime with make up story and making excuses if you want but the truth will and reality will counter your stupid claim, you can judge and convict the communist regime of Vietnam if you want but facts and history will prove and will exonerate the country and our government, I'm serious, you don't have the right to speak up and judge about our country history and our government

@@OhioGoogle yeah but it wasn’t because of the Cold War, it collapsed because most countries in the Soviet Union revolted against USSR, they revolted because of things such as ethnic differences and wanting to be independent and other things

Us wasn’t invading Vietnam it was the us on the defense protecting south Vietnam and supporting the south Vietnam military from north Vietnam. Not justifying the us actions or anything because I think the us shouldn’t be meddling in Asian conflicts
