The main reason Utahraptor is such a brawlic animal compared to others of its family, is because it was attempting to fill the Apex predator niche. Unlike any other member of its family. The morphological distinctions of slightly smaller arms and larger jaws proportionally to other raptors shows they were headed to the big head little arms strat perfected by the mega theropods like Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus. This gives us a small-medium carnivore transitioning into a medium-large carnivore. While they never quite made it there, these weren't animals to mess with. When you have raptors every bit as large as the biggest species of Ceratosaurus, which on its own is on par weight wise with grizzly and polar bears, you know you are dealing with a whole different kind of beast.

The raptors were based off deinonychus for the book and film. Their reasons are different for why though. Crichton had none and Spielberg requested them to be bigger because he wasn’t “impressed” by the Deinonychus size and increased it more in the movies. Utahraptor isn’t involved. In fact while building the raptor animatronics the Utahrapator was discovered. It had no influence, just happy coincidence that the discovery happened while the movie’s raptors were finishing being built.

From hatching out the look with others of the team cracking open and showing some of the lesser known sides of research and showing just how much there is to know. I think when it comes to dinosaurs we tend to think of all members of a group being very similar and we might paint with a bit of a too broad of a brush. Just because the Utahraptor is bigger than the Velociraptor doesn't make it just a bigger Velociraptor, both have their own uniqueness. It's my hope that if Utahraptors join the Jurassic franchise we will get to see some of that more unique aspects to them. @@Auzzy_1000 remains were actually discovered first in the eighties but they were unnamed at that point and more remains were discovered during the filming and we officially recognize something new. In the above mentioned book Robert Baker received phone call from a fellow paleontologist (I’m away from home so I can’t get the name currently) and when he explained what he had found, Robert T Baker was screaming, you found Spielberg‘s monster! It’s actually a really cool and interesting personal account from Robert T Baker. The book itself is highly recommended. I’ve enjoyed it a lot. If you want I can e-mail the pages of the account to you as there a very interesting read. Take care my friend.

Man that would really be something if the Utahraptor was in Jurassic World franchise. It would extremely dangerous compare to the Indoraptor. I feel like they're gonna make much bigger than the accurate version because you know, that's how the Jurassic world franchise just changed their sizes to look scarier and cooler.

I can already think of top ten brutal ways to die for both the Arklay Mountains and Raccoon City alone… *Arklay Mountains:* 10.) Impaled - T-002 Tyrant 9.) Beheaded - Hunters 8.) The Face-Stealer - Lisa Trevor 7.) Wolfed Down - Cerberus 6.) Swallowed Whole - Yawn, Neptune, and Lurkers 5.) Primate Mauling - Eliminators 4.) Swarmed - Mimicry Marcus Leeches 3.) Paralyzed and Liquified - Giant Spiders 2.) “Itchy, Tasty” - Zombie Infection 1.) Birthing Brundlefly - Chimeras *Raccoon City:* 10.) Chomped - Giant Alligator 9.) Tremors - Adult Gravedigger(s) 8.) Human Tomato - T-103 Tyrant 7.) The Plague Sauropod’s Predecessor - Oscar the Zombie Elephant 6.) Human Blood Bank - Drain Deimos, Mega Bites, and Juvenile Gravediggers 5.) Venus Man-Trap - Plant 43 and Ivies 4.) Drawn and Quartered - Licker 3.) The Pursuer’s Weaponry - Nemesis 2.) Golgotha Implantation - G-Offspring 1.) Golgotha Transformation - William Birkin

You have a very cool take on this subject. We still need to see this animal in the franchise somewhere, hopefully the new movie coming out next year will have one.
I love how Utah State fossil is the Allosaurus and not this

After you talked about the Utahraptor, I remembered a kind of raptor (who is not a raptor species), the Megaraptor. I would love to see these in the Jurassic franchise.

In America it isn't uncommon to hear the american bison referred to as a buffalo, so probably it's just a regional thing, or due to the obvious fact that coyotes don't live in Africa

The Utahraptor is shaping up to be quite an impressive specimen of the Dromaeosauridae family of theropod dinosaurs. Thank you Goji Center for sharing this terrifying yet interesting information and speculation with us!!!!!!!! P.S. On a side note, I always wondered, since the Velociraptors in the Jurassic franchise were so similar to and modeled after Deinonychus, and the crew that worked on these films knew of their existence, why didn't they just refer to them as Deinonychus instead of Velociraptor? It would have at least been presented as a little more realistic and it would have been better suited to the creatures in question, moreover alot of past debates within the fandom could've been avoided lol.

Utahraptor: nothing can stop me! Rexy & Blue: we can Utahraptor: and why do think you can? Rexy & Blue: plot armor Utahraptor: damn it!
@The_Grim_Raptor3 ай бұрын
I mean Rexy is a literal T Rex, I don't think the Utah would be able to kill her. So the plot armor thing wouldn't be necessary for this.
@Pokejirafan20043 ай бұрын
@@The_Grim_Raptor I mean I know that but they've still technically have plot armor, just referencing how Rexy although still very powerful would be very very old (even more so if she appears in Jurassic World: Rebirth) now even though Ingen brought the dinosaurs to life through some pretty illegal and non-scientific means (although realism in this franchise was never its main strong suit) Rexy would probably a elder or younger, now I'm not saying she's weak but just saying that she wouldn't fight as well as her younger self, sorry if I'm coming across as ranting btw
