Hello. Regarding this chapter, i would honestly propose that Trunks is not permitted to partecipate due to his nature as a time traveler, due to fear of this element to be called out by the other universes, and having team universe 7 disqualified. Otherwise, any universe could sum up many, many more stronger fighters by obtaining the instruments to time travel from universe 1 and then simply collect as many as possible G.O.D. candidates from their own histories.

He's spent his entire teen and adult life fighting for humanity and such; now with the fate of his friends at stake he's just dipping? That's massively out of character. Goku started training with Whis but not as much compared to Super Goku. Gohan was training with Whis while Videl was pregnant. As for who’s strong enough to fight Jiren it’s up in the air, and I can see Gohan having to fuse with Goku or Vegeta. UI will be a difficult one because Vegeta definitely won’t get it, and Gohan is barely likely to get it as well. If the 4D scaling for UI is true with highballing it could make UI Omen, but I believe the shaking the world of void was a Goku ascending into UI before reverting to Omen immediately after. As dimensional power works 4D is infinitely stronger than 3D meaning you need someone who’s 4D to beat another 4D being. It doesn’t matter if you have a billion 3D beings or septillion’s because they’ll be like comparing an ant missing all its legs to the Big Bang. So UI being the only consistent 4D transformation means without it beating Jiren is impossible, and I’d put Beerus as the bar for 4D in DBS.

I could see the possibility of Gohan unlocking UI. He tends to have a more calm, analytical mind than his father. But granted, his temper is far worse. If Goku lost the state when angered and suffered a ton of pain as a result, it's possible that Gohan could suffer far worse consequences if he was angered enough. Vegeta probably doesn't have the state of mind for it. But ironically, Goku may be even more likely to access the transformation, with all of the changes he has gone through. I imagine he could be closer to actually mastering it even. Personally, however, I feel that Videl may end up with UI Omen. I don't think she will master the true UI, no, and I also think she will have a far lower time limit with the technique than Goku did. But we already know that Videl is a human prodigy, and now she also has trace amounts of god ki. While she has far less experience in fighting than Goku does, and her mostly human body isn't as powerful as that of a saiyan's, it would be somewhat fitting to have a human end up gaining access to the most powerful transformation there is. It would also be a great payoff for all of the cryptic remarks from Whis and Beerus, and their fascination with Videl. And another interesting idea. One of the largest drawbacks to the technique is the immense stamina drain, at least for UI Omen. But if Videl fused with 18 and had the infinity reactor...? She could end up with an everlasting form of UI Omen. Even that may not be enough to overpower Jiren, at least not alone. But it would definitely be enough to give Universe 7 a good shot. I'm thinking Vizuli, Gohan, and Vegeta will be the ones to ultimately take down Jiren. And Vegeta would be the last survivor, and HE would make the wish at the end. That would be rather fitting, I think.

While Chi Chi convincing Goku was great, we could make it such that Goku was still not as convinced, till Vegeta came along and have them go through what Piccolo and Gohan did in canon, with Vegeta taking Piccolos role and Goku, Gohan’s.

@Nicholas Millington but Goku really hasn’t trained as much as he did in canon. So the chances of him getting UI are slim to none. Either Vegeta or Gohan or hell maybe Videl since SHES the focus of the story might end up getting UI. I actually think Goku would be one of the first few to be knocked out. Probably the order would be Tien, Krillin, Piccolo, Goku. The other characters will probably stay on at least till Toppo goes Destroyer mode. I see a Vizuli/Eidel, Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza vs Jiren, with or without 17.

Bulma is the only one who gets to do more stuff by virtue of focusing on technology rather than fighting, which seems to relegate a capable woman into a housewife later on. This is true even in Super, where she did do some stuff in the Future Trunks arc, and by virtue of being Trunks’s mother is even part of the future Future Trunks tried to protect.
