i started a regular solar system, turned ceres into a blue star sped it up, the solar system went crazy, mars hit the sun and mars went flying and it got so hot it turned into hydrogen and created a syoer nova.

As long as the mass of the neutron star/white dwarf was the same as the sun it was replacing, the orbits of everything in the solar system would give Zero fucks. Nothing would change. Environmentally, we'd be screwed, but everything would keep swinging around the central gravitational well just like it always would have.

the problem is you're simulating the moons unnecessarily. that's a lot of wasted computational resources and your computer can't handle the simulation any faster than 10~ish hours per second. see the speed indicator turning red? that's a sign your computer is stuggling. the best thing to do is simulate just as fast as not to turn the numbers pink try just the planets, then you probably can do about 10 months a second without losing resolution when you place that star. btw red giants are cute next to blue giants. i mean, red giants are a lot bigger, but less massive, and comparatively cold. try putting R136a1 instead. just to give you an idea of how hot that star is, if earth was orbiting it and we wanted to have the same surface temperature as we do with our sun, we'd need to be 5.2 LIGHT YEARS away from it. holy FUCK. it means that if proxima centauri was replaced with R136a1, earth would be cooked. that's insane. orbiting VY canis majoris on the other hand, we'd only need to be a little over 0,009 light years, or about 600 AU (600 times farther than we are now). which means the habitable zone for this star is barely visible when you're visualizing r136a1's habitable zone in the same screen

The sun has a radius of 1/125 of one AU. VY Canis Majoris? 6.6 AU, but only 17 solar masses. The star is incredibly light, fluffy, wispy. That's why everything wasn't booking it toward our new neighbor. Its 17 more suns worth of mass, all roughly in one part of the sky, but solar system bodies are closer and denser. Orbits would probably stay close to what they used to be, up until friction from actually travelling through the hypergiant.

Not sure if you´ve done this already but How about "What would happen if our solar system had a binary star?"? Like Sirius, or the system of Tatooine from the Star Wars series. Which makes me think. I´m not sure if Universe Sandbox 2 has a big enough modding community but it would be interesting to see if someone could put the planets from the Star Wars series, because a lot of those planets seem to have a lot of the information needed for them to be put in a physics simulator.

he didn't speed up because his cpu can't handle it. when numbers turn red it means the cpu is overloaded and can't simulate things accurately, so it just stops fastfowarding any further.

Even though Canis Majoris is about 1400 times the diameter of the Sun, it "only" has about 17 times (!) the mass of the Sun. It's a red hypergiant, so basically a bigger version of the red giant that the Sun will become in 5 billions of years. Like the Sun will do, CM is also a blown up version of a smaller star; it's very big and very hot and bright, but not very dense. The star that CM came from was still a pretty big star; and big stars burn bright and short: that star was only created about 10 million years ago (or before the moment we are looking at now).
