Some people have said it already, but bringing the cursor closer to your character does not actually make the spread of the shotgun any smaller, it's simply displaying that to help visualize the static arc the shotgun will have based on distance to the target. So, moving the cursor closer or further has no effect, but side to side does. Only reason to move it closer or further is to help visualize trying to hit multiple targets by fine tuning your aim side to side.

This is how damage is calculated in Shotgun King. The shotgun fires n pellets, where n=firepower. Each pellet's trajectory is random but within your arc of fire. Each pellet dissipates after traveling a distance equal to your range. Each pellet that hits an enemy deals 1 damage to that enemy. Additionally, from what I can tell it seems that your arc projection being a solid red line means that no part of the arc is outside of your max range. A blinking red/black line means that some parts are outside your max range. A solid black line means the entire arc is outside your max range. Thus if you have 6 firepower and your entire fire arc is covered by enemy pieces within range, you'll deal 6 damage randomly divided among those pieces.
@xxgattox2 жыл бұрын
This mechanic made me hate the game, sadly. Luck has no place in a chess-like game. Adding random elements to it just makes it bad. At 16:13 for example he hits the knight and the pawn right in front of him, 3 tiles away, for 1 damage, then the pawn at 4 tiles away for 2 damage, and the rook all the way back 5 tiles away for 1 damage too. Just bad.

I thought the same thing as nl. For a minute I thought I was just dumb, but I now realize that the crosshair is just sorta confusing and misleading. I think this mainly stems from there being no visual representation that your shot is going to hit the enemies between you and your crosshair. If it showed a cone of coverage that followed up until the arc I think it would be much more clear.

6:40 dude this was one of the most difficult things to learn as a gamer, it's actually something I knew as a kid but as I got older I thought I knew games to well, and had to unlearn that, it's okay to make mistakes so you can learn, those mistakes can often time lead to knew paths, or actions you may have not thought about before, take a game like CSGO for example, go to a place die, see where you got shot from, think about what to do next time in that situation, use a smoke, or a flash any, maybe prefire, but always allow yourself to make mistakes, and admit to makings those mistakes, it's a good thing to take into life too
@michaeljo93849 ай бұрын
You can just read the Folly Shield's description ( i rccomended SK: The Final Checkmate Wiki in fandom version because it's informative). Also your CSGO example is a game review while folly shield is a warning which tell you this is risky move in the computer's view (Taking a shot on pieces that check you more than 1 tile away, moving into check, and not moving to safety while being in check).

Yeah but almost every youtuber quit it because RNG influence > your influence (Tyler, trying to get secret ending but failed even with ~19 recorded runs), discovery checkmate (Cartoonz, died 99% because of that), too difficult for casual / non-puzzle gamer (ZackScottGames, lose in the NORMAL and even EASY difficulty several times until he got pre-nerfed grenades in earlier version of the game), random bullet spread and knockback (Gamegrumps, getting checkmated by a 3HP pawn checking that is protected by another pawn blocking 2 out of 4 pellets and by a knight that is knockbacked away in earlier version. In addition, off-topic talks and not paying attention to a litteral modification of a competitive game that require your attention to not lose like every other competitive game), etc.

For anyone coming just now to this video, the way damage works is that your gun fires 1 pellet for each point of power, it shoots it in a random angle within your arc. So the farther away something is the less likely it is that the shots connect, because a bad can make you miss. Your shots shouldn't miss if you are right next to the target, but it definitely can if you are 1 square diagonal, so it may be best not to risk it.

This may be counter intuitive, but moving your mouse further and closer doesn't change the spread of your bullets. I know it kind of looks like it, but no matter what, the angle is the same. The only thing that changes is where you see the border. You can pretend that border of your shot is always there, but invisible everywhere you don't have your cursor.
