For the shield, it will warn you if you will die in your next move You can remove check by move out or shoot the piece that give check (both action won't give you shield) However, if you decide to take a risk, the shield will warn you (Example: if you decide to shoot the 1 heart piece but you have 20% of missing it, it will still warn you)

Take note that as a consequence of these rules, revealing check on yourself in any way will immediately result in your king being destroyed. For example, if a pawn is blocking a queen from giving check to your king, destroying that pawn will then lead to the queen destroying your king.
