Most of the dust would be disintegrated in the explosion so it wouldnt leave much in the atmosphere. And we could bring extra "rocks" as fuel with a method on board for crushing them and igniting it repeatedly. Just a thought tho

His statement that a globular star cluster is only 3.2 light years across is a vast understatement. Globular clusters are typically 100 to 150 light years across. Moreover his claim that our galaxy has 150 star clusters is only the number of globular clusters. There are thousands of open star clusters which have a lot fewer stars (a dozen or so to hundreds), are not as tightly packed, have irregular shapes and are not as large. Globulars do tend to have less metal as he noted since they are older and not much metal had been forged in stars before the globulars were born. He noted the possibility of another star colliding with our sun if we were in a globular cluster which is a possibility since the stars are closer together. But a star would not have to collide with our sun to wreak havoc; if it got close enough to our solar system it could gravitationally alter Earth’s orbit, either sending us closer to the sun and frying us or farther away and freezing us.

I searched for this content in wikipedia. It says that globular clusters have a volume of few million parsec. 1parsec = 3.3 light years. But this video says its 3.2 light years across. Lets say a globular cluster has a volume of 1 million parsec (according to wikipedia). Then its diameter will be 124 parsec across. That is 409 light years across. I don't believe in 3.2 light years because its physically impossible to have that amount of stars in such a small volume. Please correct this.

0:42 by handful of gravity you meant stars and planets chained to a black hole or a very strong center of gravity, right? 1:01 for the record, almost all globular clusters are about 100ly across, Not a snowball’s chance in the sun is that accurate. If they were that close together they’d blow each over apart from massive bouts of turbulent stellar wind, if not create a massive cloud of their components (likely to be pure hydrogen and helium if they’re not population II or I, but so far we know globular clusters to be population II, or metal poor.) from stellar collisions happening within a few years of being created. The three body problem is one issue but a million? The universe largely wouldn’t allow it, not with any stability anyway. 2:43 “an alien star would collide with our sun one day” that’s the last thing you’d have to worry about. If any planets existed around them, they’d be thrown about between star to star as gravitation perturbations result in planets being flung about like a juggling act. Although with more adult humor you could say gravitational attraction is more open in one. 3:00 I would completely disregard this argument. If we didn’t have a planet to stand on to become a civilization in the first place, we couldn’t become a Kardeshev type I anyway. If the planet can recreate humanity in its current form, not denying any shortcuts to where we are; that means they should have every element in their bodies we have. Therefore they will be able to achieve the same technological goals if the elements that they are made up of have to be at least a significant fraction as abundant on their planet as they are for us.
