I think the most impressive part is that it would only leave a crater of 1km in diameter. There are so many bigger craters caused by asteroids and its just humbling to know how little we as humans are in the universe

I admire the financial independence of people, But you can live better if you work a little more. After watching this I think there are people out there, on the extreme, who plan to die early just to be able to retire early. To each their own but to me, retirement isn't just about not having to work, it's about having the freedom to do whatever you might reasonably want, such as travel, buying things, enjoying life, etc. I don't think I could retire with less than $3m in income-generating investments, maybe $2m at the very minimum. I plan to work until I'm at least 45

Alternative metaphor: trying to change the moon’s orbit by nuking it is like trying to move a truck by throwing a bang-snap/snapper* at it. *or whatever you want to call them. They’re maybe 1/2 inch across, wrapped in paper, and go off with a popping/snapping sound when thrown against a hard surface (or otherwise given a kinetic shock, like stomping on one placed on a hard surface).

Part of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Package (12-17) and the Early Apollo Scientific Experiments Package (11) included 3 geophones and an array of explosive charges set to varying distances and detonated in sequence to study the interior composition and structure of the moon! NASA also purposefully sent the 3rd stage of the Saturn V, the S-IVB on a collision course to the moon on nearly all lunar missions for similar reasons.
