I literally have the same setup as the first jar with Blue Dreams. The only difference is I started mine in April and it has taken over the whole jar and my shrimp have had babies. Started with UNS Controsoil.

Dang, I wish I had enough grass number two to fill a bowl like that. My crypts have been sloooow to get going, and I don’t have offsets yet. Might do a bowl without dirt, but filled with wendelov java fern. Make a nice salad! Neat idea.

I always envy these kind of scapes, because in South East Asia we have mosquitos. A lot of them. So shrimp only or filter-less tank (no water movement especially the surface) is not much an option. Beautiful progress and looking forward for update in more years to come!

@@feuerling Yes it works. For aesthetic purpose, it has to be custom made / diy tho so it can fit the opening size and hardscape/hanging type lamp/cable that coming out of the tank.

Walmart has a 3 gallon bowl in the decor section for around $12 that I grabbed to grow my baby betta out in until I moved her to her big tank. Now it's scaped and holding snails. Going to get some shrimp soon.

never done a water change for both of them, just top it up 1 or 2 weeks depending on season

Hey, I have an algea problem, i do water changes and clean the tank but it keeps growing so fast, and I have a betta in there, Is there any shrimp I could put a single one of thats big enough for the betta not to eat? Its a simplistic tank so theres only an anubis and two hollow rocks to hide in, so he'd have to be big xd. Its a 5 gal so its as small as can be healthy for a betta, Im not expecting anything really but you never know there could be a miracle shrimp :)
