@@cortlynnelliott1797 The cambrian explosion happened 541-485.4 million years ago which is when the earliest life begone and earth got it's water at around 4.5 billion years old. The more complex life forms such as dinosaurs appeared 200+ million years ago and during that time, air wasn't even safe for humans to breathe. Humans only appeared 2 million years ago so it's that long before a planet formed to be able to sustain human life.

@@howardbartlett3026 SimEarth! I'm SO happy to see somebody else mentioning that one. That is such a good game! It's got such a variety of different things you can change on the planet itself...and then the life forms, if you get them...and then their society, if they make it that far. It also allows for some wonderfully weird random stuff to happen. My fave example is the time I somehow ended up with a civilization of Starfish. They had trouble with the whole "fire" part of civilization, since, ya know, sea creatures--but they somehow still made it to the Bronze Age. XD AND, if you do the Campaign Mode, SimEarth _also_ has chapters where you try to terraform both Mars and Venus. :)

This is a rather short-term endeavor, but we are also ignoring another key problem: a magnetosphere. Once we thin out Venus's atmosphere, we still need to address the lack of magnetosphere.
@thebluelunarmonkey
@thebluelunarmonkey Ай бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking. If you remove venus' dense atmosphere, you also remove it's strong magnetic ionosphere, which protects its atmosphere from being blasted away by solar winds, since venus doesn't have a magnetosphere. Probably easier to create underwater spaces under Ganymede's ice crust deep enough to shield from Jupiter's radiation than to create a earth-like venus. Have little expectations from this video.

TERRAFORMING A SMALL PORTION OF MARS IN A DOME: Hi, I have been an environmental researcher since 1969. I discovered a method for growing grass on the surface of radioactive Uranium Mine tailings at Rio Algom Limited in Elliot Lake Ontario. ( confirmed). Grass can be grown on the surface of the planet Mars. I need Elon's help to conduct an experiment. Grass produces oxygen, for example, 50 sq feet of grass will produce enough oxygen for one person to breathe clean air. An airtight glass or plastic dome can be erected on the Mars surface, where grass will be planted where one person can dwell. Enough grass planted in this domed environment will create enough breathing oxygen to keep one person alive. A dome twice the size will allow two people to survive.

Venus is a good option. It would be best to tow it into Earth's orbit so it leads us, for easier commuting, and increases its spin so its days are the same length. It would also be visible in the sky if close enough as another earth. Eventually, you could build a whole chain of them. You would need to completely recondition the atmosphere and seed it with Earth's flora and fauna. It would take an entire army of robots, but I think the first step would be to move it and spin it up. The closer it is the easier it would be to exploit.

@@Irish_Georgia_Girl I would imagine you would build some kind of huge net and a sail and use the solar winds and sun power to power it. Saving you having to carry fuel and providing mass transit.

The thing most people don't get about Venus is that due to the different rotation direction a day cycle on Venus (sunrise, sunset, sunrise again, not a completed rotation around the axis, very important differencein that case), is about half a Venus year. If Venus rotated in the othere direction it would be almost tidally locked to the sun like the moon is to earth. Only gradually over the span of dozens of years managing to turn every part of its surface to the sun.

Quickest way to make mars grow food will be to take some black soil from the amazon and take it to Mars, or learn how they made it and take the ingredients there so you can recreat the soil and wait for the soil to take it in, also having to take manure there on a ship

Wild imaginations. We can not even solve the issues we made in our very own earth, now scientists are so ambitious to restore life in other planets. I believe solving the issues in our earth is way more feasible than restoring life in other planets.

12:27 technicly you would not even need to nuke mars to heat things up. You could use a bunch of mini rocket booster drones that could direct skyscraper sized chunks of ice & push it towards mars. 1) it provides the extra water needed for the planet. 2) just like metiorite impacts here on earth, it could heat up the ice caps on impact.

My heart could not handle looking from the moon to the earth with my immense fear of heights makes it so my stomach drop from just seeing pictures of earth from outer space, if the earth dies i die with it cause space is the ultimate heights fear inducing problem id accidentally get people killed with the sheer amount of panic.

Terraforming the moon would be cheaper than terraforming Mars? That has to be the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a long time, also the dark side of the moon is in sunlight for most of the year.

Ok, I understand and I admit that the idea of terra forming a planet to make it habitable for humans is a noble and aspiring idea. Earth is precious yet unique in that it has a magnetic field to shield us from solar radiation. Otherwise our atmosphere would be blown away into space. We don't have the means or technology to create a magnetic field for a planet. That type of technology is hundreds of years away, at the very least. What is the purpose of trying to create an atmosphere suitable for humans, when it's just going to be stripped away. Instead we should concentrate on preserving the only planet we have capable of sustaining human life. It's all we have for now, and it should be our priority to preserve it's habitable atmosphere for human life. Obviously, Earth will continue to exist for billions of years, with or without us.

Can we do a What If that shows what life would be like if billionaires and the corporations paid their fair share? I don’t think we’ll ever have major advancements for humanity until the rich and powerful stop hoarding all the world’s wealth for themselves and their agendas.

The thing is, we need to save planet Earth, not create Venus habitable. We don’t have the time to fix venus, without first fixing what we have done to this planet. Governments are doing nothing. We have so many people on Earth, that each planting a tree can give so much to everyone’s future. Have a resolution in this new year 2025, plant a tree every month, I know it’s very sparse, but we gotta start somewhere. Everytime you waste water, rather water a tree. Happy New Year 2025. Hoping for a greener future. Don’t just buy electric cars. Make your surroundings green.

The idea of terraforming planets sounds crazy and highly unrealistic. We're already struggling to take care of our own planet, with so many toxic and polluted areas and massive damage to nature. And now we're considering taking on other planets? Let's face it - our species is meant for Earth. These other planets probably have their own ecosystems and species, just like us. We shouldn't interfere with them. Instead, why don't we focus on ensuring humanity's future survival and prioritise the protection and care of our planet? It would make much more sense.

@@andy-the-gardener Not the company. It's a megastructure named after a guy called Freeman Dyson. The original concept is actually a swarm of sattelites around a star (now called a Dyson Swarm), but popularly it's now used to refer to what is essentially one giant artificial planet, with a hollow interior and a star as its core, where people live on the inside of it. You basically have to disassemble all of the planets, moons and asteroids in the star system to build it, but it is doable under known physics.
