Brain size relates more to proportion than it does to intelligence. Your brain is smaller than a whale’s because your body is smaller. However, your brain is structured in a way that enables you to survive, and succeed.
But after all that, would you believe that humans only use 10% of their brains?
Let’s make it 100%.

Produced by Underknown in Toronto, What If is a mini-documentary web series that takes you on an epic journey through hypothetical worlds and possibilities. Join us on an imaginary adventure - grounded in scientific theory - through time, space and chance, as we ask what if some of the most fundamental aspects of our existence were different.

What I find fascinating about the brain is that you never truly forget anything. Of course you may miss some daily tasks when tired. But given the right impulse you can remember things vividly from tens of years ago. Can you possibly imagine how much data your brain stores ? Holy cow

Even if we could use all of our cerebral cortex (the 10% which the video talks about) at once, we'd most likely go completely insane because every neuron in our cerebral cortex would be firing at once. We'd essentially be simultaneously reliving every experience which is stored in our memory and we would probably also be experiencing constant physical pain throughout our entire bodies as well. (Please reference "The Sky Is Falling", Episode 5 of the six-part audio drama podcast Zero Hours.)

@@thomas.parnell7365 Ye can't understand upgrades like iPhone 6 to 7 or 7 to 8. However I can somehow fathom and understand someone who had struggled with a shit phone for a while, like iPhone 5 and then upgraded to iPhone XR, that would make sense since the X/XR has a lot more features. Meanwhile when you compare spending hundreds swapping iPhone 6 to 7 it is like.. Well I can''t notice any new upgrades. Seen 6, 7, X and XR. But you know what is super worth it? That iPhones USED to get slower by age due to them slowing them down on purpose, got caught doing it and now the older models are working okay. So an used 7/S+ which used to be like $900 would go for $150 and imagine the features you get. The best bang for your buck. At least that is an okay way to get a second phone.

We already do use our brain at full capacity. The 10 % thing applies to our ability to use our brain at will: decision making, creativity, logic, emotional response, day dreaming, etc. The rest of the 90% of our brain is for autonomic functions: blood pressure, heart beating, breathing, body temperature, metabolism, digestion, respiration, pupillary dilation, urination, and much more.
@giotikas21TGUtm
@giotikas21TGUtm 2 жыл бұрын
And if we had the chance to use it at will we would require more oxygen so we wouldn't actually make it that's why it's autonomic I guess

What I think of when discussing the ability to use our brain to it's full capacity is being able to do subconscious actions consciously. Imagine being able to regulate your own pain. You get hurt but know you'll be okay? Turn off your pain receptors in that area. Childbirth? Can regulate that pain as well. Another action could be the ability to access all your memories at a moments notice, clear as day. Better yet, being able to learn something almost instantly. Obviously there is are things we allow our subconscious to do that we don't want to have control over, i.e. breathing, heartbeat, etc. Best leave that to the pons. Anyway, that's what I think of. Given that the conscience isn't fully understood and what it actually is, is still up for debate, I think it would be a cool thing to explore.

When I was 12 I was reading the Bible and saw that passage where it says something about "... if you have the faith the size of (whatever seed of something) you could order a mountain and it'd do it". A little later I learned about that brain percentage and stuff. Since then I always correlate this "brain power" with faith. So, to me, to have the full power God intended us to own, we would need to be both spiritual and intellectually prepared. That's my point on why no one can use the 100%: In this world people either are blinded by religion they reject the idea of how the universe actually works or are so taken by science they reject the concept of a creator (whatever religion you have). It's a parallel in which knowledge and faith are completely different concepts, but both of them converge to a "complete comprehension of the everything".

I did saw some videos where it said that when Harvey finally showed up with Einstein's brain, scientists found out that it has 17% more neurones than normal, which means more synapses, which means more brain power; in onather hand they said that his brain missed the parietel operculom andit increased something in it.

I had heard the 10% stat before so One time in my life I thought to myself "what if I was able to tap into the part of my brain that we normally don't use" . I then thought we probably can do crazy things and don't even realize it.... so I decided I would turn the night 🌙 🌃 into daylight. ( I know it sounds dumb).... But thats what I thought to myself and began to focus on the night sky...I was at a ranch and had a good dark setting around me so I could see lots of stars that particular night. I focused on an area & began to "use my brain" (through deep focus I suppose) to turn the night sky into daylight.... there I was focused and even at a point shaking from focusing so much and staring at the stars... and I gotta admit I felt ridiculous attempting this.. 😆 🤣 so maybe a couple minutes pass by which feels like an eternity... when suddenly a light appears from the ground up and lights up the entire sky... I live on the east coast of California central valley, I could suddenly see the Sierra Nevada mountains.. I could see all the trees that surrounded the property... i could see. Time was approximately midnight. I still didn't want to believe what was happening so I look over at my buddy who throughout this entire time was texting on his latest and greatest smartphone ( it was a Motorola with the slide out keyboard)... anyway I look over at him and im waiting for him to look at me in shock.. but he didn't react. So I thought to myself that I had been able to achieve a state of hypnosis where only I could see this... my buddy eventually made the reaction I was looking for.. he freaked out, "whoa wtf is that!"... I SMILED...and enjoyed the maybe 15 seconds of light which felt like a minute or two... I finally told him what I felt like I had "accomplished" I told him well you're not going to believe this and its going to sound really goofy but hear me out. "I thought about making the night into day, focused on getting it done...then it happened in the moment while I'm trying to make it happen. What are the odds of that? I started that whole sequence of events with "what if"..... u never know until you try... For the record I never attempted that again.... I think I would freak out if it worked again. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I think that it is discovered that he had an average number of neurons, but he had more glial cells, which increase the processing speed of brain.

No, that isn’t the case Professor X. Einstein neurons were closer together than the average human being, allowing for faster and more efficient action potentials.

I apologize if I appeared to be rude Professor X, those were not my intentions.

@@youngdepression3887 I didn't say that you were rude Because you really weren't. But there are many different informations on the Internet and I found both that he did have more neurons and that he didn't. I don't know whom to trust 🤔

We would be like Ultron if we used 100% of our brain

You might cannot use 100% of your brain, but still you can fill things in brain which is necessary for you. Because brain automatically starts deleting things which is unnecessary for you. So then you can be more focused on things which are necessary for you.
