Dear DR....I just want to share something after watching your solar video..when I was in 8 th class, my father applied for a loan to buy a solar lamp because I belong to the Tribal area and a power cut is common. My father is a security personnel in APSRTC and the cost of solar lamp at that time is equal to his two months salary. He bought it for me and we i.e myself and sister used it for 4 years. Thank you! This is a well curated video. Something i missed hearing about two drawback i had heard about in a ted talk. The impact on ecology and environment in two ways -1. The thermal currents created over the panels are unnatural due to the reflected heat 2. The floor of fields of panels after being disturbed ecologically durinv installation are also now a shadow zone which impacts the ecosystem.

Great video...one comment from my side If everyone starts using solar panels, how will the coal power plants manage for night time power? Coal plants cannot be shut off and powered on every night. Energy storage or Battery technology is key to using solar energy efficiently. Your video should have spent some time on this to make it comprehensive.

Electricity is only ten percent of energy requirements. 90% is space and transport so we need ten times as many panels. There is a 30:000 mwh being built in Kutch and another 30gw planned in Ladakh. Also replace gas cylinders with induction cookers.

Good video. But when I calculate the cost benefit, it might be breakeven in India but it takes a good 15-20 years in US, sadly. Moreover, in US, in net metering, the cost of getting energy back from grid is about 2x than the credit you get when you give excess energy to the grid.
