Koh Samui still has some beautiful beaches, but the traffic feels like a big city. Everyone always in a rush, and not very relaxing to drive.

Thank you for the video Mike. I love Thailand, especially my favorite island.... Ko Samui! I spent 5 days in Samui in February! I visit Thailand quite regularly & plan to retire (from crazy USA) to Samui in 2 years. 🎉

I'm going to Jomtien instead of Samui because the rentals are much cheaper, there's no way you can get to rent an almost new condo in Samui for the prices you get in Jomtien. However if saving money is not a concern then I guess Samui is nicer, perhaps Koh Phangan even better cause it's built on the right side (sunset side)

Jomtien is also a good option. I don't like Pattaya all that much. To each their own. I rent a brand new house in Samui for 20K per month. Hard to find these days.

I don't get: what remains of the gem of the island if it get filled up with so many villas and compounds? I own a quite a big property in Lipa Noi, where it is still relatively quite and locals are living. Still, I do not see the advantage when the island is covered these villas and compounds.

United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland combined under one kingdom. Great Britain is England, Scotland and Wales (excluding Northern Ireland this time) or referred to as 'Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. Ireland itself (Eire) is it's own nation and republic but Northern Ireland is part of the UK. All nations have their own flags but fall under the Union Jack flag.

Interesting point you made about alot of the remote jobs stating you must remain in the host country, kind of defeats the purpose it's not really a remote job then. Also i see alot of so called remote jobs then saying the job is hybrid and you must be in the office 2 days a week or some bs like that. It doesn't work for me or my lifestyle it's either fully remote or nothing.

If you’re SUPER RICH….. but for ordinary folks Samui is WAY overpriced, jacking up prices and destroying what was once an idyllic location for one reason only, MONEY!!!!!!!! I was on Samui before you were even born 1980, when there was only ONE place to stay at Lamai Beach. Bamboo huts, no electricity, fish, rice, bananas and black tea for sustenance…. It was purely idyllic….. nothing personal, but all the utoobing and vlogging IS “”NOT A GOOD WAY”” and is simply contributing to the total loss of what once was a true paradise. The more the word gets out, the more people will invade the island , and turn it into what everybody is trying to escape. It’s happening ALL OVER THAILAND…. Phuket, Pattaya Chiang Mai are all already cooked and are mini versions of BANGKOK….. THAILAND is just becoming another mini version of any western country because of all the people hyping the version of Thailand circa 2024. I’m a long long long term expat and seeing what’s happening to Thailand is SADDENING….. and have a few questions “””what’s Thailand going to be like in another 5-10-20 yrs?????”””” and all the hypsters will be directly responsible for its dilution and destruction of what was once the most peaceful unique culture in all of Asia. Do you speak Thai? Or do you expect the Thais to learn English, French, Russian, Mandarin et al??? Have you embraced BUDDHISM? Thailands truly unique religion that informs the THAI way of life, customs and rituals. Do you have a work permit??? As making a living from utoob is deemed WORKING under Thai law, and therefore negates your visa status, therefore disrespecting THAI LAW, the same Thailand most bloggers profess to love…. What gives bloggers the right to come to another country and simply DISREGARD Thai Law??? Other than complete ego and DISRESPECT to their newly found adopted place of refuge, See the contradictions??? I could go on, but it’s so obvious to those who can think what’s REALLY happening on the ground in THAILAND….. it’s being sold out to MONEY by pure ignorance, all under the guise of I found my paradise, so hey all you westerners and Russians and Chinese, just come on over and turn it into what you are all trying to escape…. ………. Revert to Question 1…………….

You make some good points but at the end, of the day you're just another old angry jaded expat. Not worth my time.
@mjay6508
@mjay6508 Ай бұрын
@@AbroadInThailand no NOT angry at all!!! SADDENED AS I SAID… I’m just calling it out for what it is and that’s what your ignorance can’t handle. And anybody who doesn’t stroke your limited knowledge of Thailand is deemed angry??? lol I notice you didn’t answer one question because I surmise you DONT speak any Thai, DONT have a work permit, DO NOT embrace BUDDHISM in any form, yet sell yourself as some sort of Samui guru after a few years. That’s called the blind leading the blind. Sorry if FACTS about the REAL REALITY happening now in Thailand offends you, but if you can’t understand how encouraging more and more westerners onto Samui is DETRIMENTAL to local customs then you are seriously deluded and just another noobie pretending to know anything at all about how things really are in Thailand. Buddhism teaches to kill one’s ego, so try embracing some spirituality instead of MONEY, stop pretending to be some local real estate agent used car salesman and read those Articles. You will then see that it is the THAI people themselves who FEAR FOR THE FUTURE OF THEIR OWN COUNTRY because of foreigners like your self who are selling the country out for likes, clicks and MONEY,, …. Nah champ, NOT ANGRY AT ALL, just calling you out for obviously what you are and how you are actually part of the problem for DILUTING AND DESTROYING THAI CULTURE…… it’s called NOOBIE IGNORANCE MASQUERADING AS PRETENDING TO KNOW AND DO SOMETHING WHILE WAITING FOR YOUR INHERITANCE!!!!!!! lol suck up REALITY PRINCESS!!! PS I clearly stated nothing personal,,,,,, but because you got called out on TRUTHS you responded personally with your old jaded expat retort… lol ex Marine here sweety and still got what it takes. Obviously you have NIL RESPECT FOR ANYTHING…….. especially Thailand………
