If you’ve ever found yourself at a birthday party, you’ll know that the real attraction isn’t the cake, or presents, but really, deep down, It's helium balloons. After all, is there any purer, more universal joy in life than inhaling helium and speaking in a squeaky mouse voice? Well, that remains to be seen. However, there may be some unexpected effects to inhaling everyone’s favorite gaseous product.
Helium itself is a colorless, odorless gas with some unique applications. However, when it enters your body, it can have an insidious effect on your inner workings, especially on brain function. If you’ve ever gotten lightheaded while inhaling helium, you’ll know what we’re talking about.
We all know (or rather, assume) that inhaling 1 helium balloon can’t hurt. But what about 10? 100? What kind of effect would that have on your body?
Maybe you’ll get stuck with a high pitch squeaky voice, or get so full of light gas you fly off into the atmosphere! Or maybe the results will be a little more sinister. One thing’s for sure...you won’t know ‘til you watch this video!

When i was 8 me and my brother thought it would be fun to play with the helium. Everything was fine when I all of a sudden blacked out and woke up on the floor. My brother said I just collapsed and was out for a couple of minutes.

I wanna share my experience So back in September ( I was 8 or 9) my brother went and inhaled 3 or 4 helium balloons whole! He passed out in the kitchen and hit his face On the counter. After A while me and my big brother who was 18 or 19at the time tried to get my brother up. Keep in mind that my brother was 12 at the time and he did this stupid thing. So anyway we tried to get him up but he wasn’t. My mom was going to kill me. (Not literary) because she had told me and brother before she went to work “Don’t inhale those balloons”. But my brother still did it. After 5 or 3 minutes of him on the floor he finally got up he was screaming in pain. That he had passed out and hit his face on the counter. But he could have killed himself me and my older brother figured out that he had a KNIFE in his hand! He used a knife to cut open the helium balloons and was still holding it when he passed out! My older brother was furious at my brother he started just arguing with my brother he told him how he could have seriously injure himself with at knife! Anyway thank you for reading this!

It should be made clear that the helium shortage currently going on is commercially based, not environmental. In other words, it's a man-made shortage and not because of lack of helium on the planet. In addition, helium that is used for medical technology has to be a REALLY HIGH level of purity in order to work. Helium that is used in party balloons is considered "lesser quality" because of the impurities in it like other gasses and such. The team "balloon grade helium" means it's not actually good enough quality for other uses, hence why the industry continues to thrive.
