See a lot of people talking bout me in the comment section so I feel I better say something! This still doesn't convince me that Blitz isn't pay to win, which for those of you paying attention, was the condition by which I'd write the 10page essay! Although this video brings up some interesting points, nice research and math! Problem is, if the strategy guide you have says that the matchmaking system is set up to match people of similar card level, this brings up two big problems. Either the Microtransactions/Blitz Packs are simply being used as a placebo. Your units aren't really getting stronger if you're matching up against someone who has the same leveled units, right? Or, Blitz really is pay to win and the more packs you open, the stronger your units and matchmaking doesn't account for this much or at all. Either way sounds pretty shitty to me, and I think the whole point of this video and that section of mine is the same, DON'T BUY BLITZ PACKS!!!

The Act Man i put $50 down, purely because I know halo wars 2 won't have high enough returns on game sales alone. Xbox doesn't have the market share that 360 had, and even with the pc release I don't see halo wars 2 selling more then 2 million tops. With another dev that's two companies that have to divide the profits. Micros are the only reason halo wars 2 was green lit. I'm grateful for the game, and wish to show my support.

The Act Man One, you get more variety. Two, only some of your units are getting better, meaning that both players will have exaggerated strengths. Overall, it doesn't increase overall power, just the amount of options that are feasible, meaning it isn't pay to win (unless you pay the most), just pay to have more options (which is still powerful, but not gamebreaking, like purchasing another balanced leader would be)

That's why I like working with teams and we don't even buy packs lol we usually rely on completing challenges and their really fun to do. Heck we even beaten quite a handful of high rank players with high ranking cards which I've noticed myself. We basically usually relied on whatever strategy we knew about blitz since the beta like positioning, knowing what our units weaknesses and strongpoints, hell a high ranking hornet would still get annihilated by a low ranking wolverine lol. But yeah don't worry I totally understand your point, it would be nice to see people rely a. It more on completing challenges rather throwing money at the game.

I reckon after level 6 it would be 10 % less than the previous for example. 12.5% increase until level 6 then 1.25% till level 16 then 0.125% to level 26 this would make it even even if someone spent that amount of money.

When competitive comes it should have a hard cap of level for troops. Something appropriate. non-competitive could stay as is. I hear that they may push you against someone near your deck level which could be cool

I was in a game earlier with level 2 cards against a guy with level 6 cards, it was clearly p2w, he was a lower level. Yeah you can still win if you outplay them, but think about if you both have the same skill. They have the advantage to win because they have money to shell out. The improved stats should be reserved for blitz firefight.

Jacob Laas Each card is a unit, getting duplicates levels those units up permanently, buying packs gives you more chances to level up your units, that's why we're talking about pay to win

I'd imagine that it would be like cube world. The higher level you get the less your stats increase. I got to lvl 5000 something because of a glitch and each point I invested only increased the given stat by about .01% or .001% vs the 15% to 5% in the lower lvls (I don't remember the exact values but something along those lines)

A stat increase is a stat increase. If two players have the same skill level, but one player has level 1 cards and the other player has level 6 cards, the person with level 6 cards is at an advantage and will win. Same goes for a person with level 1000 cards against a person with level 1001 cards. If they have the same skill level, the person with the level 1001 level cards will win. Pay2Win is almost an understatement.

Chances are it'll be a logarithmic scale, with exponentially decreasing rewards after level six, so say for example from level 6-7 all stats increased by 100%, the boost for level 7-8 would be 50% of that between levels 6 and 7, 8-9 25%, 9-10 12.5% etc. Obviously, this isn't exactly how the system works, but it will likely be something similar

I agree with your video, but one thing. It seems many people are confused by the term "pay to win". Now, they say "if you can beat someone who is paying, its not pay to win". Thats false. Match two players of EQUAL SKILL level, EQUAL rank/Time played. But ONE player pays say, $200 for blitz packs. This player will have an INHERENT advantage over his equally skilled opponent. Therefore, you are paying for an advantage. This advantage will weigh the odds in your favour against an equally skilled opponent. You obviously wont win %100 of the timeas you said because it apparently matches players based on card level,, but paying for the packs certainly has an advantage. Not to mention, you will have also wider variety of cards to put in your deck compared to a player of the same level/skill as you., as you have opened and collected more cards through paying for them.

i think your assumption that after level 6 cards rank up by a fixed percent each level is incorrect. The boost probably decreases exponentially after level 6, so you'd have to integrate the function to get the actual boost at level 5000 or whatever. My guess is that by level 20 or so the increase is more like 0.05% or something to that effect.

I quit blitz mode when somebody had kodiaks camped in their spawn area and their range/damage prevented me from taking a point completely. Now obviously the raw range wasn't the factor that let them cross map me it was due to a stealthed unit that was faster than anything i had just cleverly strafing around everywhere giving the kodiaks range. I sent an entire army out of pure rage straight into their spawn to see if i could even scrape the kodiaks and the regen literally cancelled out my max population's damage of all level 5-6 units. bullshit.

The levels are probably exponentially declining, not linear. If it is linear the programmers would have to have a literal screw in their brain. NOBODY makes linear scaling that knows anything about game design.

I dont think the purchasing of blitz packs is the problem. I think the leveling in general is the problem. How will new players even compete aganst a level 6+ cyclops? If its that much of a boost, theres a problem because the player is no longer winning due to skill, they are winning because they play more and recieved more packs. 85% is very significant in blitz considering there are firefights over objectives where every unit counts especially counter units. If someone cannot touch the enemy counter unit then how will they be able to win?

Interesting calculations. However, they may be flawed. You're assuming that the increase is 1.2% per level after level six, which means that it goes into marginal returns territory. You don't know if this will decrease even further, for example, by 0.1% per other 50 levels. Or it could simply lower the ROI until a point and then boost it dramatically, to encourage huge investments of capital. It is pay to win and whatever people have to say about this, you can simply dominate the leaderboard by paying for it. There are people who are willing to spend six figures for this, for better or for worse. So no matter if the return decreases or not, simply because there is no gap, you can dominate any opponent. This reminds me of Diablo 2. It was so easy to cheat. Yes, you could have built your character or you could have simply used Cheat Engine. No matter how well you play and how good you use your character, someone with twice the HP / mana, would have simply killed you. A similar situation was in Killing Floor where you can simply use Cheat Engine to level up while offline and then use it online. The difference was that after level six, you couldn't level up anymore. Anyway, it is sad to see a full featured game with P2W. This is not a $10 release. This is a full, real, full priced game that comes with P2W micro-transactions.

The "if they've dropped 1000's" is meaningless. For the definition of p2w, it doesn't matter the amount that is needed to spend for an advantage. ANY advantage gained for spending, vs a player who doesn't, is an advantage. Skipping a grind, is an advantage, because they will forever be ahead if they spend money.
