Step 2, correction. Just last summer i got old tank full of gasoline, owner wasn't sure exactly how old it was but it was between 5-10 years. I mixed it 50/50 with new gasoline and ran just fine. The combined average fuel consumption was slightly higher than normal, about 1L/100km increase to the usual 7L/100km. If the last person would mix that old gasoline with distilled alcohol, i'm fairly certain you could drive on gasoline cars for 10 years or more. Diesel engines would fare even better. The first engine was designed to run on peanut oil so the method is really forgiving. Stores and warehouses will be filled different kind of oils and for example old french fry oil has been proven to work on. I'm gonna test this summer how old engine oil mixed with pure diesel oil runs. I expect it to work as there are loads of 'diesel runaway' videos on youtube where engine malfunctions and start to run on engine oil instead of diesel oil. The only problem i anticipate is that the diesel pump about it. Oil is thicker than diesel so i might have to try heating the oil to make it more runny.. TL;DR Last man on earth would not be limited walking after couple of years. It would take decade or more.

For that first day it would be fun, but after that first night. And you wake up at like 8am and you except it to be a normal day but you remember, no one is left. Not your family, friends, etc. After that monent of actual realization, you'll go into a deep state of depression and anxiety even if you never experienced them. I'd reckon the last human would die within the first year, not for lack of survival skills but just because of severe depression. A dog would be your ONLY hope of lasting through that first year
