Maybe try to find edgy accessories that are girly like for example I have this spiked collar that is baby pink and heart shaped glasses with sharp points on the edges. Sort of like "im a bad bitch but I can still be girly and cute" sort of vibe. Like if you want to be edgy and feminine at the same time I'd suggest what the comments have suggested swap the colors keep the style and vice versa. A really good source for inspiration is the pastel goth look.

one of the first videos i saw about kibbe said something along the lines of "thats just showing that kibbe isn't limiting what you can wear, its just here to elevate how you look even more" and i never forgot it. im an edgy SC who likes streetwear, so i never really liked the cottagecore-esc things they recommended to my type, howeverrrr, the more i actually studied instead of just scamming sites for info, i managed to find something that matches my body while matching my style. im glad you've done this video, it took A LOT of time for me to find this balance and pratically no one will have the time/patience and interest to learn it, the more we can show people that kibbe doesn't limit you in any way the better ♥

I’m a romantic ingenue and a Dark Winter too. My style roots are Sun and Flower. I have found a way to incorporate all these. I often wear sundresses with a waist emphasis that have florals. The florals will have DW colors from both the light and jewel toned section. For example, white background and dark red flowers. Or dark blue background with berry flowers. DW also has some beautiful mid toned colors. It has some beautiful, bright pinks. Darker colors look better for me next to my face. But I’ll often wear a white crop top with puffy sleeves and pair it with a flowy jewel toned skirt. Earrings in any jewel tones and berry or red lipstick will bring the DW colors I need next to my face. I also love velvet dresses or tops in jewel tones. I make them look more romantic and ingenue by looking for puffy sleeves or ruffles at the collar or hem. And I wear them with delicate, sparkly silver jewelry to bring some lightness. I have other tips but you get the idea.

This was SO HELPFUL thank you. I'm a Dramatic Classic and have spent the better part of this week trying to work out how I'll ever wear comfortable clothes again 😂 my style roots are mountain, stone and mushroom, and it's the Stone bit that had me flummoxed. Now I realise I will probably have to buy some new clothes, but that I can be comfortable - they just need to fit me properly and be made in good quality comfy material. I'm also going to alter a bunch of my jumpers to make them more fitted, that's all they needed to be rescued from the donation pile - what a revelation to realise what actually works on your body, that always existed (potentially) in your wardrobe!
@ElberethOhGilthoniel2 жыл бұрын
I probably have a classic body type but I am dramatic my self. Thankfully I think I might actually be dramatic classic,which helps,but thanks to Sarah Burton's style for Alexander McQueen I believe I have found my inspiration. I actually loved the original style of Alexander McQueen (he was my favourite designer) but his work was far too intricate and flamboyant for me to pull off,instead she has combined maximalistic aesthetics with actual minimalistic designs (eg the shoes or their new bucket bag) and more classic silhouettes. Other rock,dramatic and chunky designs that I believe classics can wear are the prada sandals which are very big but have very clean cuts and an extreme black colour and their sunglasses collection. Of course when I mention the designer brands I also mean items inspired by them.

Oooooh. Watching this I think I finally figured out how my roots seem to interact! I start with a Mushroom base (so usually classic pieces) but then either Fire or Flower will change the details to add a girlishness or a sensual element. And sometimes Moon will be layered on top in regards to a detail (dark color, leather element, unusual fabrics, etc.) With that in mind EVERYTHING in my wardrobe fits this layering. EVERYTHING. Wow... I feel like I've cracked a code, thank you.

It's me, but more with colors. I'm a winter, I actually like brighter, bolder colors and they do look good on me, but my personality is usually more quiet and introverted, I like more refined styles such as cottagecore and dark academia and I feel the bolder colors can feel too bold sometimes or they don't match the style I'm looking for, where as the more muted, pastels and earth tones look awful on me...
@nikhefe162 жыл бұрын
I would suggest a splash of a bold, bright, winter color alongside a more neutral tone. I'm a bright winter but I've realized winters generally have grey, white, and black tones included in their color palettes. I would start with varying hues of these neutral tones paired. I've also learned if you are Winter (or any season really) you can borrow brighter or darker colors from another season as well. Hope this helps in some way!

@@nikhefe16 to add on to this, strong neutrals can help too. Some of us have more hip, some more belly, some more chest, and the lines of our faces are more likely to have been changed by our size. But we still want to have fashion.... and so many clothes for plus size women, especially tops, are either horribly boxy, or they have an empire waist with a lot of gathered fabric through the stomach area which can make us look pregnant.

A video I'd be interested in seeing is blending yin and yang, especially considering undercurrent vs. primary lines. What's the difference between soft dramatic, theatrical romantic, and gamine outfits/pieces/lines?
@anajankovic25232 жыл бұрын
I do this intuitively. I am a SD, but a very yang one. I am not fond of floral prints, in general, but I love plaids, geometric prints, and anything that has a rather structured quality to it. Also, if I opt for an animal print, I'll chose some that has angular or geometric pattern, like snakeskin, crock skin, and similar. Since I love plaids, I've found a styling formula - the fabric has to be on thinner and softer side, the cut of the skirt needs to be a variation of the pencil skirt, and the plaid needs to be large in scale, rather low in contrast color wise, and it works best if the pattern of the plaids is either put on bias or "broken" by twists in the fabric, or some strange seamlines placement that skews the straight angles a bit.

Great content Ellie! I really like your style roots concept. It is an ideal way to structure the way I think of my personal style, without limiting my creativity. I would classify myself as a combination of mushroom, flower and earth - and since you were struggling with finding key words for 'earth', I thought, maybe the terms that popped up in my head might be of help. :) Besides 'earthy, natural and carefree' (or 'relaxed'), I think the earth style roots is 'free spirited', artisan (when I think of 'earth', I think of well-made, prints, knits or crochets and other crafty treasures) and 'a wanderer'.

My biggest issue with using the body typing system is that the glamor and femininity associated with being a very lush, short True Romantic gives me a looooooot of gender dysphoria, because, as a bigender trans person, it makes me really uncomfortable to be assumed to be a femme, cisgender woman, which is what happens if I dress too close to my lines. The ditsy prints are too small, youthful and ingenue or gamine like. It doesn't quite work with the ageless look. Maybe solids, embroidery/texture, some lace and metallic details are my thing.
