***As a note, it is the selection committee (judges) and the MUO who pick the semi-finalists..... and the ultimate decision on who is the winner is supposed to be left for the judges! However, I do believe MUO has some say in ultimate decision. They are ultimately the ones who will work with the girl for the whole year. Just my opinion!

How do they go about in in the final night? Do they whisper their choices to the telecast judges or have a talk with the judges before the show on who to particularly look out for?
@vaughngelo74776 жыл бұрын
biggreenbananas thats the same question I'm asking to myself. Maybe they're a doing deliberation before the pageant start.
@maribethcelinecatipay6726 жыл бұрын
And your opinion is a very valid opinion. You have the experience to back that up as a former Miss Universe Canada and pageant judge. I think the MUO is the hidden, crucial judge. And their approval is worth its weigh in gold. I agree with you that from day 1 the girls are already being assessed, compared and evaluated by MUO staff. Telling gestures and comments are all taken in. I hope the girls realize that they are all viewed behind a magnifying glass.

Thank you for sharing behind the scenes perspectives with us. I've always wondered how the organization participates in the decision making for the semi finals with the panel of judges. Perhaps that was how they chose the wild cards last year. Watching you renewed my confidence in the new management. Aside from being gorgeous, I understand why your name was called on final night... You radiate warmth, confidence and sincerity. I look forward to your future posts. Cheers!

Lol you are right! The decision is up to the judges and the MUO... so when girls are shamed for placing, it shouldn't be directed at them, but rather at the judges/MUO if people are unhappy!

Hi Siera! Thank you for making this interesting video. You look amazing and I hope to see other videos from you. I would like to share something about another pageant system Miss World. From what you shared about how the MUO looks for the next Miss Universe (everyday observation of how she handles herself and treats other people), I find it very similar to how Miss World candidates are judged. I'm from Vietnam and I read an interview of Miss World Vietnam 2004 on the news. She said that all candidates are judged by the staff in different events of the competition and by the crowning ceremony, the winner has already been determined. She even said that she saw no scoresheet on the judges' table that night. However, some fans don't really understand the process and often say things like "cooking show" when someone won unexpectedly.

Hi I am Xander Santos from the Philippines and i am loving your videos about your thoughts and personal picks of who wil be the next Miss Universe. For me, the next Miss Universe is someone who can carry herself well and really knows her nation and she should also know of how the current and the most talk about issues/problem that are happening in the Universe and of how to solve it by giving her idea about it and of how she could do to solve it. She should be confidently beautiful and willing to pursue the journey of being the Miss Universe 2018.

Thank you for the fantastic video Siera. I agree with your assessment and you are 100% right on the money. Interesting that Miss Russia 2017 fell into that category of a perfect face but she was allegedly something else behind the scenes. So when she didnt make the cut, I was not at all surprised. Also when I arrived in Vegas last year, my friend and I bumped into you(right outside the arena from watching the rehearsals) and we told you that we were from South Africa. You were so kind, sweet and genuine and even agreed to take photos with us. You are amazing and congratulations on excellent performance at Miss Universe.

Thank you for the great insights about the pageant... way back 2016, I think you made it to the evening gown competition if I am not mistaken... that is such an experience right? It's a really good thing you're explaining this bc way, way too many people only look at what a candidate looks like and/ or her dress looked like. I'm a former pageant girl and I know that far more is considered in who is selected. As such, people get totally bent out of shape as to why they feel their favorite didn't win. These pageants are far more in depth than the layman understands. Looks alone by no means is the only determining factor...nor should it be.

Bravo! This video should be a must-watch for all of the Miss Universe franchise holders, the delegates' trainers and the so-called "missologists" online who regularly rate contestants without an insider's clue or insight of what's going on in this particular pageant - as well as the fans who, during the buildup to the pageant finals, keep drowning each other out with shouts of "our favorite is a complete package of beauty, pasarela & intelligence!!!" without realizing that the judging of who will eventually wear the MU crown goes beyond those 3 basic criteria. @Siera Bearchell, with this latest MU edition of your vlogging, you've done a great service to those who've been swept in the rising tides of toxic pageant supporting. ***And I've just subscribed :) .

Shame at those people who calls you fat and overweight as they don't really know the real you. I wonder why would they matter at all if they see things in a superficial way. I remembered former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz of the Philippines, she even vetted you to win the crown. I thought that was a sharp prediction when you entered top 10. I was surprised how confident you were on stage. Truer enough that viewers don't really see everything, and I think you're more amazing see u in this vlog and how passionate you are about miss universe.
