Without my consent and against my better judgement primus has been my favorite band for going on a decade, but it took me almost a decade of listening to them on and off to really appreciate what they are trying to accomplish. They are truly one of the ultimate aquired tastes, and if you keep listening to them and get a chance to see them live i believe you will agree.

God bless Primus and their kooky brand of dope music.

I mean... they have an album called "Antipop" and a song titled "To Defy The Laws Of Tradition" so, ya, you're definitely not their target audience. I'll never say psychedelics are required to listen to the likes of Primus, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Morphine etc, as I enjoyed most of them prior to mind expansive drugs, but I will undoubtedly say they help facilitate an understanding when it comes to POV in their more experimental pieces. Anywho, I enjoy your analysis and subbed. I'd love to get more Morphine reactions. They toured with Primus quite a bit, and I'm currently working on a Morphine cover EP. Their final album "The Night" is amazing. Try their song "Souvenir."

I have done a lot of hallucinogens and it definitely helped my appreciation of Primus haha.

As always you have an interesting reaction to this band haha I will say this was an odd choice being that its just a jam really and not a progression at all from you've heard previously. Southbound Pachyderm is the one that shows real growth and I think you wouldve liked that one a lot more

I like how the song beginning with American Patrol just happened to fall on Memorial Day.

Bet you would like That Ol Diamdback Stergeon by Primus. Its less of a wild style but still has character.

You could watch to 'Southbound Pachyderm', by Primus. It's also performed live by 'The Claypool Lennon Delirium', featuring John Lennon's son, Sean, but Imo. the Primus video is worth a watch for fun. :) Primus have some good videos. Over the falls is quite good for it's retro stylings. I also find Primus tough to listen to for general enjoyment, but they are great for novelty and a quick short song or two, as they have so many great ideas.

Completely nailed how I feel about them too. Every time I give them a listen I think “wow that was cool but a 1 listen.” Occasionally I’ll go back to a couple of their older songs on rare occasions because they have such heavy guitar chugs in them that make them fun to listen to.

He definitely does need more primus in his diet. He's got a vitamin p deficiency... the ending seemed to break him..... because he's low on vitamin p

I wonder if the interview you spoke of might be a call back from an interview of a specific chemist known for the discovery of a drug. LSD or MDMA perhaps.

PRIMUS SUCKS and this is a fine example of their suckiness lol They progressed with each album to distill the best parts of what they were doing while adding a weird catchyness that pll responded to Thx for the vid Bryan 😎✌️🤘🧐

This was kinda a graduate - level Primus song. Jerry was a hit and they had others, it’s not all something that wouldn’t ever make the radio Three official music videos from singles in the 90s you should check out; Tommy the cat Winona’s big brown beaver (Grammy nominated - seriously) Laquerhead And Primus is best live. Check out Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers from Woodstock 1994 and Tommy The Cat from bonaroo 2011

You said u wish they would go more prog rock. Well actually, their album “the desaturating seven” is a prog concept album from 2017. Great album, less satirical (still a bit whimsical) but it is definitely their most serious album. Check out “The Seven” off this album.

I think I would classify Primus as a surreal, progressive, funk-metal band 🤔.

You should try some of their more experimental tracks instead of their top 40 MOR tracks like this one 👍
