I know this may not be the next 50-bagger, but if you're looking for a profitable, established company in this space, there is Vertex. I don't think it's a bargain, but also not really overpriced.

You are absolutely right. Vertex is another approach that's less pure-play, at least for now. And we don't look at investments in terms of baggers so it would be as equally appealing as anything else were we to consider it. ;)

Another person raised that. The recording volume is inputting at 85% to try and improve quality. We'll try and raise that to 95% and see what happens :)

I bought some CRSP recently. These technologies are the start of a medical miracle if they work. Who doesn't want to own a piece of a medical miracle?

Key phrase there "if they work." They may work but they might have terrible side effects we don't know about yet. So be cautious with the "who doesn't want to own" statement.

If someone was looking at investing in Crispr or Intellia, may be a good idea to put the majority of the money into Regeneron and Vertex who are the much larger, more established companies they have respectively partnered with to commercialize their therapies. My only qualm about small caps in the healthcare & tech space is if they do well they more often than not end up getting acquired by one of the large cap leaders eventually.

That's certainly an option, though the question would be how much gene editing exposure one gets by doing that. While the small caps are definitely pure-play, they are very high risk. We made an exception to invest in the ones we did because we typically avoid drug developers because they are so risky.

On paper, I think this is the best company out of the bunch, but it's biotech and surprises are the norm. We'll see.

If you had to choose between CRSP and NTLA, you would choose NTLA even though CRSP is on the cusp of commercializing the first CRISPR drug? There is no right answer, just always good to support bullish sentiment with reasoning. ;)

@@Nanalyze Pricing will kill the commercial prospect imho. NTLA appears to have a much better “business sense” when it comes to strategizing their (potential) commercialization.

Based on how far Intellia has gotten into bed with Regeneron we'd say the partnership is quite strategic for both parties already, and they're sharing costs and profits, so that seems to be the arm's length distance Regeneron prefers. The way these deals are structured seems pretty standard industry practice.

All Genomics stocks rise and fall together. Next milestone is crispr in early December so if that gets the nod which looks likely after the UK approval then it will lift all other Genomics stocks too. This basket approach is ok for now but eventually the duds are going to rear their ugly head and cost speculators money. Hence at some stage you will need to get up to speed with whats going on within these companies and stop the basket approach as some of these companies are next to bankrupt

Its definitely an exciting area that will benefit society.... I always thing of these life changing technologies as airlines. It became a huge market but airlines were a lousy investment. i like the idea of spreading the risk
