Always liked this round. Can load it down to 22 mag or up almost to 223. Very economic on powder. No recoil not loud.

very good video I used one for about 10 years in Australia shooting cats, rabbits, foxes, pigs and kangaroos I sold it when I was 23 and miss so I have been looking for another one for years but every one who has one that is any good wont part with it and new ones are to deer they are one of the best all rounders I have had . There is a video on KZbin of an 8 shot revolver that is a 22 hornet with lazer sight I wished I owned,

You rarely hear of anyone selling rifles without regret. I’ve only ever sold one - a Tikka M55 in .22-250 and I miss it too. How did your .22 Hornet hold up against the pigs? Head shots only?

@@matthewknight1910 I found it ok if you could not get a good head shot in I shot them behind the front leg down a bit and take out a lung or heart they didn't go far but it didn't have the stopping power of my 22.250

I have a CZ527 in 22 hornet, rechambered to K Hornet. I'm in Florida, USA. With powders like Lil'gun, H110/W296, and Power Pro MP300, you can push 35gr bullets up to 3500fps and 40gr bullets 3300fps in the K Hornet, barring any really aggressive, McPherson style handloading.

Actually ive found 22 hornet effective to 300yds, not just 100-150yds. I hand load for the hornet caliber and my math and chronograph puts it @ 300yds its still at 1215fps and 151ftlbs which is 22lr point blank territory. This is with a starting velocity of 2700fps using winchester 36gr ammo using a g1 ballistic profile

H&R made some of thier single-shot break open rifles in 22 Hornet.

New pownders have made the hornet get a comeback. In europe they are still widely used, esp for target in germany but in sweden it hold a quite uniqe place due to our laws regarding calibers for hunting. with lil'gun a hornet can get great performance, 200fps+ better velocity then with traditional poders. quite nice.

I've got two Hornets, a Winchester 1885 Single Shot and a Browning Micro-Medallion bolt action. Both are topped with 4x12 AO scopes. I reload for both and I've used each to kill deer at ranges out past 150 yards with a 45 grain Sierra behind 12-13 grains of Lil Gun. Used to use the Nosler 45 grain Hornet bullet but Nosler...the bastards...quit making the bullet. I've killed deer with chest/heart shots but the best shot, when you know your rifle, is to shoot deer in the white spot on their throats. They'll drop like they've been hit by lightening and there is no meat damage like you see with body shots. Great round for an experienced hunter/shooter.
