My mother was from the 50s. They wore French tip manicures done by manicuring natural nails and colored it with white pencils underneath the tip. When acrylics became the rage in the 80s it was very expensive to get a French tip on them but we baby boomer babies loved them!

I ADORE this style of nail! The "Baby Boomer" vintage style and the length go together so well. I've always had just my natural nails, never any acrylics or gel nails done, but if I were to get them done I'd get this style. So pretty and classy.

You put so much effort into even the smallest details!! I stopped having my nails done because the techs wherever I went would do stuff like not glue the corners down and just acrylic over it and it would get caught on everything and just UGH Lovely to see that you really take care of your clients' nails!

Omg it’s so weird that you’ve done this video today! I did my first set of nails yesterday and tried ombré, I wasn’t happy with them because I thought they looked too wide. You have just explained exactly what my problem was- I hadn’t pinched! I definitely need to buy the pinching tool now, and rewatch your video on pinching, as I’m a bit unsure how long to pinch for and how to recognise when it’s the right consistency for pinching. I am loving your videos. I’ve only started having gel polish with structure gel on my nails this summer. I just couldn’t grow them without them breaking before . Ok I just searched it up and the calmer lady in the Naio videos from 2012 was actually the co-founder of Naio, Gemma Lampbert. The lady in this vid is the other founder, Kirsty Lund. So mystery solved, there were two nail technicians!

I love this shape so much and the simplicity of the look. I have gotten my nails done once but I didn’t love it. I wish I could go visit you to have my nails done, you are so careful and talented, I feel I can trust your expertise. I can handle long nails but I become clumsier than I already am, typing at work becomes a loud affair, and I can’t work my phone, I just can’t 🤣 So I file my nails often when the length has reached certain length, it hurts my soul because it takes forever for my nails to grown but it has to be done 😢 I’m a grandmother in the body of a 29yo, I need grandmother nails. I think they are gorgeous tho’

I like that you only use a file and buffing block and not a drill/e-file. I do my own nails and only use a hand file and buffer. 💪🏽

The French manicure style for acrylic nails was super popular in the late 80’s and 90’s. Pretty much everyone who came into the salon I at worked at then wanted this done. Most of those women were from the baby boomer generation. It was the most requested style for acrylics and natural nails and the ONLY manicure ever requested for wedding’s. It was so boring after awhile. I really like this ombré rendition though. Very pretty.

Adam is correct! That nail shape & the French are big amongst baby boomers.... I am one! Lol! Only I'm more of your "edgy" type of BB... I like sparkles & designs. One of my favorite is a little on the longer side (still boomer shaped though, a "sqoval" is what we call it, w/a ombre chevron French, they usually air brush it the chevron. That's my "norm", but I do tend to get crazier depending on any plans I might have.
