My mother was from the 50s. They wore French tip manicures done by manicuring natural nails and colored it with white pencils underneath the tip. When acrylics became the rage in the 80s it was very expensive to get a French tip on them but we baby boomer babies loved them!

I ADORE this style of nail! The "Baby Boomer" vintage style and the length go together so well. I've always had just my natural nails, never any acrylics or gel nails done, but if I were to get them done I'd get this style. So pretty and classy.

I stopped having my nails done because the techs wherever I went would do stuff like not glue the corners down and just acrylic over it and it would get caught on everything and just UGH Lovely to see that you really take care of your clients' nails!

Omg it’s so weird that you’ve done this video today! I did my first set of nails yesterday and tried ombré, I wasn’t happy with them because I thought they looked too wide. You have just explained exactly what my problem was- I hadn’t pinched! I definitely need to buy the pinching tool now, and rewatch your video on pinching, as I’m a bit unsure how long to pinch for and how to recognise when it’s the right consistency for pinching. Ok I just searched it up and the calmer lady in the Naio videos from 2012 was actually the co-founder of Naio, Gemma Lampbert. The lady in this vid is the other founder, Kirsty Lund. So mystery solved, there were two nail technicians!

The French manicure style for acrylic nails was super popular in the late 80’s and 90’s. Pretty much everyone who came into the salon I at worked at then wanted this done. Most of those women were from the baby boomer generation. It was the most requested style for acrylics and natural nails and the ONLY manicure ever requested for wedding’s. It was so boring after awhile. I really like this ombré rendition though. Very pretty.

I am loving your videos. I’ve only started having gel polish with structure gel on my nails this summer. I just couldn’t grow them without them breaking before . I wish I could come to you and get my nails done, there is no artist in the south that understand how to do these, I showed an image of babyboomer nails to the tech and had to explain the process, at the end they proceeded to paint two dots where the shine spots were on the image, I had to tell her it's not a pattern; it is from the topcoat.🤦‍♀️

I am trying to teach myself how to do nails. I hope to go to school but with my crazy schedule not sure it's possible right now. You wouldn't even believe how much stuff I have accumulated already. I watch a lot of videos, but yours are some of,if not all, of the best nails I have ever seen. You are so insanely talented! You can tell that you love what you do, and your damn good at it! Did you take art classes as well? Some of the videos I watch are just straight art type stuff, like the one stroke technique, and I practice that just on paper so I can get the technique down. I wish I was in the England so I could learn from you in a school setting.
