Working with a Book Launcher writing coach has been a great experience for me. This week I’m writing my last chapter of my first draft.

Great video! My writing mentor used to say that working with a coach will help a writer finish the project 10X faster. It's been true for me!

Thanks for sharing that. Do you think it's the accountability or structure? What made it faster for you do you think?

@@BookLaunchers Both! Brainstorming the story elements before and during the first draft saves so much time. There is always room to be inspired and let the story surprise you, but knowing the thru-line in advance is invaluable.

I actually had an author friend mention a writing coach today. Then I see this video. Something to consider as I get ready to write that non-fiction book.

I know nothing about the process to write and publish a book but I have the content to a very interesting and true story about the oil and gas industry. How can I find out if its something people would want to read and if I should pursue it? the company I worked for would not like me exposing them but thats why I think it would be a good eye opening read

This is a helpful video for authors to understand what book coaches do. I am a book coach and many of my clients struggle with maintaining a writing schedule. Often this is a mindset problem. And yes sometimes we do need to our "butt kicking" voice on.

After this, I wonder what my books would have been like if I'd gotten a writing coach...or if that coach would even speak to me now. :) Terrific as always, Julie.
@BookLaunchers4 жыл бұрын
:) Depends on the coach - like everything. I learned that we have to have a team of coaches because different personalities work well together, and others do not. Also, some coaches push an agenda which is not good too. In the future I will have to talk about how to hire the right one for you.

Julie, have you ever had a client drop off the earth completely? If so, what becomes of any materials you have on them? Im assuming packages are purchased in full up front with BL?
@BookLaunchers4 жыл бұрын
We only ever had one completely vanish ... actually maybe 2. In both cases the book draft was in their hands and it was up to them what to do with them. We are not a package service - we're membership based so no up front fee. As long as you're a member we keep working on your book. When you cancel we give you everything - source files, accounts, etc.

I'm almost done with my first draft, and now I'm thinking I might need a book coach...

First draft is a great time to bring in help! We work with a lot of first drafts ... we start by figuring out your hook and then look at what content works and doesn't work with that hook and adjust your book from there. When you go through the developmental edit a coach can also be very valuable to help you work through the questions and suggestions from the editor!
