If all if this data is centralized at the Federal Reserve, the government can set up an intrusive social credit system that can dictate what you buy, and punish you if they deem your social behavior is detrimental to society. (For example eating too much meat or drinking too much alcohol.) they already have this set up in China. Watch some videos on it.

It's a fiat based currency so it only has value when it's perceived to have value.* It's just like cryptocurrency, they only have value because people perceive it to have value.
