Great video. This one hits close to home because we have 4 co-founders. It was exactly how you described. It was 4 guys all developing the idea at once. It's not the easiest thing in the world and we do have our differences at times but our mutual respect for each other is there. Our perspective is to always see the project as being bigger than ourselves individually. A little humility and patience goes a long way.

Hi Jay, i have started a project for a year, now i am putting together a team of 7 individuals. I want to know, what do you think will best suit this team. Should i consider them co-founder, give them some portion of the shares(if, so how) when we go live or what? I am a little confused. I put this team together just two month ago, but i have been on this project for a year. All advise and comment are welcome

Hi Jay! I would like to ask you what a founder's brief has to include for example in the introduction and conclusion? I have that as a starting point of a market research project , so apart from the founder’s view, probably include the initial hypotheses around customer problem, key product features and customer niche. Would you recommend anything else in terms of structure and/or how to present it in a document? Thank you!

Thanks Jay, I really should have watched this video way earlier, but at least now I can fix my situation. I will be a solo founder unless I find someone can super contribute our team.

@askjayadelson You could benefit a lot from using annotations to point users to previous videos whenever Jay is speaking of something he has touched upon before. Ex. when Jay makes a video about the % to offer investors he could use annotations to point to previous videos where he explains why Angel investors invest. Also, a typical method is to just link every videos such that whenever you get to the start or end of a video you get annotations pointing to next and previous videos = More views.

A while ago in casual conversation a friend of my wife said that he'd always wanted to run a business with a close friend but none would take the leap with him. We both share the same passion for barbecue and we get along very well. I just filed for a barbecue catering LLC recently on my own, it's pending right now. I called him and told him I have it in the works and wanted to know if he'd be down with working me. He obliged and seemed happy. So I just watched this video and am now slightly confused as to what to offer him. I want him to both invest and work for the business, yet wouldn't consider him a founder as I'm doing all the leg work getting the business license and doing all the homework. When my license comes in, what do I propose to this dude? And what title should he have within the company? I need him!

Bryan Torres I don't thinks you should give him Co -founder status ...I think more of a Employee status ,your first employee :kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWPdeIuroKeWlbs. But hey , you do you men , that's just a thought.

@askjayadelson I like the contents of the intro but when you are following the channel you see the intro every time, which causes me to try to skip the intro which detracts from the experience of watching these otherwise great videos. I expect that others feel the same way. I think it would be better for you to use an annotation in one of the corners of the movie so that users could choose it if they haven't seen it before. That greatly improve the user experience-Thanks for the channel :) btw

Hi Jay I really need your help on this matter. I have started a company for the past one year and I need an expert to handle an aspect of the bussiness. He is asking for 40% of my profit after I have taken the cost of everything.

Please shorten the introduction so that you dont include the information on Jay. Most of us has heard it many many times by now...Instead, include an annotation so that we can navigate to a clip about Jay. Thumbs up to make them see this.

It's my idea, my brand, my space, my students, he is only drafting the curriculum, getting the teachers, and the materials and I have to bear the cost. After everything give him 40% of my profit.

Well, it doesn't sound to me like he is a co-founder. It sounds like he is an early, important employee. I wouldn't share profit that way, personally, but rather put the profit into the growth of the business, and own a majority shares, and then give this person a large chunk of ownership. If the profits are high, you control as CEO what you both are paid by the company, and profit sharing is just off the table. That's just me though, different people do it different ways!

Avoid putting ads in all your videos. I know you get your videos sponsored. But ads in every video irritates when somebody wants to watch all your videos in a row.
