I noticed people have commented here, but just to clarify that it’s not that OTHER is no longer sale, it’s that laws were passed in 2023 that now classify those as banned assault weapons. Therefore you can’t even configure your weapon platform to meet the other characteristic, as that would make you a felon by creating an illegal assault weapon, unless it was registered.

Not sure what a “rifle permit” is. A ct pistol permit allows you to buy all legal civilian firearms in ct

I thought pistol braces are banned and are you even allowed to buy an other in ct anymore or any ar besides a fixed mag?

The pistol brace atf rule was put on a preliminary injunction meaning it cannot be enforced until the courts come to a decision which who knows how long that could take. CT others as most people know them are no longer able to be purchased. Almost all of them are now fixed mag, however the new sig MCX-regulator is legal in ct I believe because of the lack of a pistol grip and collapsible stock. There’s another company that makes a very similar thing that is legal too I believe.

I’m a CT resident and I am thinking of getting some type of AR but I really don’t like the ones with fixed mags. The only way around it I’m seeing is by getting a PCC. Is this really the only way to get an AR style rifle in CT is to get one that labeled as a pistol?

@@jessco8950 from my understanding the only way to have an AR style rifle rn in CT is with fixed mag or making it single action like bolt action. Unless it’s a .22 cal due to rimfire. A PCC in the AR platform would still have to be configured as an other which is no longer legal unless it was previously registered. I’d say your best bet right now is to get something like a mini 14.

@@jessco8950 it’s basically one of the few semi autos left available to us with a detachable magazine due to the fact it doesn’t have the “AR features”. Doesn’t have the same look obviously but kinda take what you can get at this point. Still a good gun and comes in a bunch of different calibers. Goodluck!

From what I understand you can buy a lower still but it must be built into a fixed magazine rifle, bolt action is similar things. Don’t quote me

It doesn’t have to be fixed mag but it can’t have more than 1 feature so if you want to run a detachable mag you can’t run a pistol grip you have to run a non adjustable buttstock for reference look at the fight lite scr

From my knowledge. (I’m not a lawyer don’t quote me) if you had the lower before about 6 months ago then yes but you must follow all other requirements of a CT Other since it still is considered one. If all requirements are met you don’t need to have a brace. You can have just a plain buffer tube but you can not have a stock

@@TacoTactical yea I looked and they banned AR pistols cuz they say "magazine inserted anywhere but into the grip".. So a pistol is illegal too.. I don't know how the Supreme Court let connecticut do what they did.. I hate this God damn state ..in ct. All you can buy for a 223 556 is a mini 14 ranch rifle .. blows my mind you can have a 9mm semi pistol but not a s&w fpc carbine with a 16 barrel cuz it folds..it's shocking what the scotus let happen

So I moved from Mass to CT. I’m not gonna lie. Those laws suck. I’m lucky enough to fall under the military exemption (10 years army) so I have a window to register my stuff.

So you HAVE to have a vertical foregrip? I live in CA and you CANT have a vertical foregrip unless you have a fixed magazine. And you must have a stock but it can't be adjustable unless your magazine is fixed as well. (They really hate people reloading here) We also have the super gay 10 round magazine unless grandfathered in during the time it was legal to get standard capacity mags. Wow, Cali sux, but CT is almost worse...except you all can run suppressed! Strange.
