Can you talk about the QB's job in the run game? Example ideas: *Killing the play into a run *Mechanics of the hand off. Harbaugh taught "belt to belt." The zone run teaches to open at 5 o'clock or 8 o'clock. Favre had his fake throw and Kurt Warner said he found himself watching Marshall Faulk running the ball instead of carrying out the fake like he was supposed to. *Practicing play fakes so that it looks the same as the run. *Executing the draw *The responsibility of the QB to make sure the correct run call is made, as I have seen very questionable plays run into a numerical disadvantage that was doomed, whereas Tony Romo called the Patriots Chiefs championship game and knew each time when it was going to be a run and to what side.

JT, continuing to love the content man, preciate all the knowledge! Idea for you: If you haven't done this before, it would be fun and informative for you to give a breakdown of the route tree, especially from a cool angle like ranking your most difficult throws for a quarterback to make, or ranking the route tree least to most difficult, etc. Keep up the good work!

I like this idea. Although, I don't love a route tree. Let me think about it.

Hey JT, viewer from Germany here. I love your content, can't believe u only got 22000 subs... I got some video ideas for you: -Pre and Post Snap Reads of the Defense and Offense -Defensive Reads on personnel groups (How can the defense sniff out a run play/deep ball) -More in depth about lining up under center and the possible play calls vs shotgun/pistol play -Transition from college FB play style into NFL -Follow up for your zone/man defense explanation videos --> How to beat different defensive calls, how to disguise your defensive call pre snap -Pros and Cons of different run play (toss, draw, inside/outside zone, trap...) Keep up the great work!!

Love the vids. In HS, I used to love away games (since home crowd would be quiet for the O), and I'd try to listen/read lips and body language of the other team's snap count. One QB huddled facing the D and near the LOS, and I could hear his count and play on almost every down. Another used to frequently point the count on his fingers to the OL (he didn't realize he was doing it). Lots of LB A-gap and B-Gap blitzes. Ditto for OG, one use to fold his fingers with the snap count, and quite a few used to change their splits when pulling or dropping into pass sets. College teams were smarter (and more noise in the stadium).
@roderickclerk59045 жыл бұрын
You are now banned for using wall hacks. 😊 Seriously though, in highschool (circa 2013) at least half of our offense could be called verbally or with hand signs. We did this to combat defenses like yours.
@stephensebastyan15975 жыл бұрын
@@roderickclerk5904 JT talks all the time about "nuances", mostly from the QB position. Defenses also have their tricks. Hand signals and verbal calls can be deciphered too, and there is still physical tells (OL splits/stance, the RB starring down the hole or LB he's to block, Center bobbing his head from shotgun, WR starring down a LB or S giving away the crack block... QBs stare down their WR a lot) HS coaches are often bad about teaching "tells" and coaching them out of players (on both sides of the ball). They count a lot more on raw talent making the difference. As an aside, there's a fun video of Akeem Hicks talking about reading NFL OG for how they are balancing their weight in stance, tells him if it's pass, pull, power... So teaching those lessons can help even in the pros (not just HS or college)

Hey JT, new to the channel/Patreon but Im loving what you're doing and learning a lot. 2 ideas for you. 1) Would you be open to doing a "2 minute drill" segment where you analyze a game-winning hurry-up drive to explain what the offense is looking at, things that QBs need to take into account for clock management, and where the defense went wrong from start to finish? 2) Would it be possible to get into detail on what goes into designing plays from the bottom up? How often are new route combinations and concepts created? Thanks again!

When I was in high school I used ready, set, go, 1, 2. If I game to the line and said Green Green it was on go. Sally for set, and one eleven or two twenty two. From my experiences you could just get them engrained on go and when you needed a hard count (if your line didn’t jump) it’s almost an automatic 5 yards or free play. Just a meta game.

Hi JT, I have to say I love your content! I found your channel, watched a third of your videos and signed up for your patreon, all in the space of a weekend! I'm just wondering, when writers and talking heads on the tv might say something along the lines of "this QB doesn't get X coach's system", what does that mean? What really makes the difference between different HCs, OCs and DCs?

Would you have preferred it if you can run the ball like how lamar does today or be a pocket passer like old man tom brady?
@roderickclerk59045 жыл бұрын
In highschool we did color system as our base cadence. It would be like, "blue blue seeeet read-Y go" The ball would be snapped on the y of ready. We had other cadences like like no sound, first sound, and seeet go. The seeeet go was probably the worst one (not that it was bad). In college we actually a similar system.

JT, A lot has been said with Kliff Kingsbury coming to the NFL and bringing the Air Raid. Lots of pundits and arm chair QBs say the Air Raid is a gimmick offense and it can't work in the NFL, but many staple Air Raid plays (ex. Mesh, double stick, Y-Sail, 6 (4 verts), etc) have been in the league for years, if not decades. Thoughts?
@TheQBSchool5 жыл бұрын
On what? Kliff or Air Raid concepts. I like Kliff. We were in a NFL camp together. Smart good dude. AR concepts, you're right many have been in the League for a while. However, no one has really ever fully committed to 10 PSN and only running Raid concepts. I'm not sure an only Air Raid O could survive longterm. Jan. football is just different.

I always wondered at what point does the offensive line have to set themselves? In college sometimes, you'll see the center squat and look around a bit or see the whole offensive line look towards the sidelines. At what point does that movement become a false start?

Jason Wang in my understanding it would be false start if imitating the start of a play. Such as a quick movement.

@roderickclerk59045 жыл бұрын
The backup QB is very important. He needs to know what's going on also. He also helps the offensive play caller tabulate plays and their success rate.
