I'm really enjoying the educational videos for confirmation on horses! I'm working hard to expand my knowledge and seeing certain things like this in action are so interesting! I've never requested any kind of content before, but I am genuinely curious about something. I ride Dressage and want to train my eyes to better evaluate gaits and gait development. What are some of the things you look for in movement? Do you have examples of what is considered poor gaits and almost excellent gaits? I've been digging around trying to find videos that show gaits in action but they aren't very well edited and don't necessarily explain what is "going on" if that makes sense! You are clear and concise about your educational videos and I love the content!

Thank you so much for your sweet compliments and for watching. I’m glad you are finding them helpful! I will get to work right away on creating a video about the movement desired dressage. Be sure to subscribe to my channel so that you will receive the notification when the video is ready! ❤️

This isn’t a muscular issue. It’s a function of the horse’s skeleton. Take a look at illustrations of neck bones.

Random bystander, here. What struck me immediately is that the ewe neck made the horse look like a llama. Do all llamas actually have ewe-neck muscles?

Thanks Deanna! Great explanation! I have an Arab Saddlebred cross that I'm trying to do dressage with. He's tricky, especially to get through and connected! Funny about that yearling swinging his head from side to side like that. I have another horse that does that, a Thoroughbred. He is now almost 16 years old. I still ride him and he's ok under saddle, but he's always had that quirky neck-swinging thing at liberty. I've never seen another horse with that until I saw the horse in your video. If you find out more about that behavior, let me know because I'm interested. Incidentally, my quirky, neck-swinging TB lives in the same pasture as my flighty, hard-to-get-over-the-back NSH, and they are as happy as 2 weird peas in a pod out there!

How come for saddle breds and Arabians, it's not bad to have hollow backs? I thought horses had to have their back engaged, so they don't damage their spine.

Saddlebreds are bred as a trotting breed which causes their center of gravity to be different than a breed that was bred for cantering. It's a big misunderstanding that saddlebreds and arabians are hollow especially when you see them in the ring with their high heads and big gaits but they still are collected and even those breeds used in dressage will still tend to have that high head carry. You may be wonder how can a high neck not equal a hollow back? The lifting of the back can also be caused by the tilting of the pelvis and that by the hock, so when the horses back legs stretch out underneath itself it's tilting the pelvis and inturn lifting the back.

My horse has a bad ewe neck. The thing is he’s an apendix, and is VERY sensitive to the turns with the bit and can collect easy. Idk what to do

Inverted posture, is not a "ewe neck" I have seen classic ewe necks change dramatically with good dressage principal riding ...

can we feed human protein powder shake to horse for protein .

I really suggest not doing that since horses need different types of proteins than we do.
