Nothing wrong with liking .45s and other effective rifles. Run what you like, understand, and are proficient with. I guarantee you, nobody has ever looked at a sucking chest wound they got for their trouble of trying to ruin a .45 carrier's day and said "look at this obsolete piece of shit". Just as long as they're not the kind of dickhead who thinks their fellow citizen doesn't need effective tools of directed, lethal, repeatable violence. (This brought to you by a 1911 carrier coping with the fact that they can't afford to upgrade from their budget AK... But whatever you've got, fucking run it. Gucci gear is a liability if you aren't spending that money on range time and can't put holes where they belong.)

There can be a but with any of the amendments because they were made at a time were technology was not very advanced compared to what hit during the 1900s. Plus opinions are subjective not fact

I had a great interaction with a fudd today. Video of a guy who added a threaded/ported barrel, WML, and RMR to a WWI 1911. Now I get why that might upset some people, but one comment said he turned a $5k gun into a $500 gun and after asking where I could find a 1911 with a WML, RMR, and ported slide/barrel, someone else replied that they would sell the dot & light and then "throw the gun in the ocean or maybe get a $20 Kohls gift card at a gun buy back."

I love the second amendment, but I don't feel the need to own a gun myself. I don't find the mechanics are particularly interesting, and I feel reasonably safe in my living arrangements, but the threat of tyranny is ever looming.

I've always considered a fudd to be a person who clings to old firearms lore as fact, and typically reacts disproportionately when said myths are definitively busted. The perfect example would be when AR-15-style rifles started becoming mainstream hunting tools, the fudd community denounced them as unreliable, because of all those stories about how unreliable the first M16s were. You know, those stories from back in the '60s in Vietnam. I've also never met a fudd who didn't own an ultralight magnum-chambered rifle "to save weight," despite the fact that they could do more weight-saving by getting on a treadmill twice a week, their longest walk on a hunting trip is from the cab of their truck to the tailgate, they can't shoot for shit because their featherweight magnum recoils too hard and they've developed a flinch(which they get butthurt about when you point it out), and none of their hunting shots with those high-powered magnums are beyond 150 yards, although the ranges are typically estimated to be between 400 and 700 yards, because they can't be bothered to use a rangefinder.

You can welcome change and advancement in the industry, and still have your own personal preferences. Though I'd really like to hear about how Glocks are out dated, they seem to be very competitive in competitive use, chosen by many highly respected and competent military units, and there are dozens of handguns on the market from many manufacturers that are the same system dressed up differently. That system is what most modern handguns are based on

Fudds are like 60-80% pro gun, sometimes 100%. They're slightly more likely to be pro gun control, in the sense of modernized stuff, but being a Fudd means you like guns, they just happen to be older, more technologically simple, or has some very outdated ideology that made them popular

This isn’t what I see as a Fudd. Fudd’s love the 2nd amendment. Might be as high as they count. But will defend it to the end. Their collection may rival the value of the truck and trailer combined. They have a rifle ready when their sons are born. Then be able to put it in on one before grade school. Fudd’s go to is often not fancy. Won’t be any electronic sights. Maybe not any sight. Just some bailing wire twisted at the end the barrel. May look clumsy, is awfully ignorant, but knows how to point the lead.

Do you believe that other gun owners should be allowed to own even firearms you don't personally see a use for? Then your not a Fudd. A stereotypical Fudd is the hunter/"sportsman" that doesn't think you need more than a pump-shotgun for home defense, a bolt-action .30-06 for hunting, and either a revolver or 1911 for a carry handgun (in short, if it wasn't popular and commonplace in the 50's, then there's no reason for you to have it today). They're usually the ones that'll say "No true sportsman needs a weapon of war like an AR-15 or an 11+ round magazine in a gun because we can actually hit what we aim at on the first shot."
