No, its a load of loose rocks in metal baskets. A lot of these images are cladding

The benefit is actually you can fill it with any sizable filler. Concrete chunks, flat slate slabs, crystal colored rocks (glass), large stones, etc. are all options. What i've seen mostly as far as structural walls is something like this = (Interior) | (gabion wall) | (insulated concrete wall w/ support structure) | (gabion wall) | (Exterior) = imagine seeing the wall skeleton from the side. The interior doesn't need the (gabion wall) component but some people like to apply it on the interior as well as a feature wall. The cages themselves are also cost effective so it gives space in the budget to play around with material filler to determine what you'd like in your build. Some cases like Concrete filler you can actually go to some demolition site or construction site and either purchase for almost next to nothing the trash material as filler. Another note to piggy back is you can mix materials in layers because the cages can be separated into horizontal rows. If you can imagine a 10 foot high wall (each cage for example sake is 1 foot height) , from 1-4 feet and 6-10 feet of cage is slate chucks cut length; The 5th foot can actually incorporate these glass / crystal rocks that behind them you can incorporate an led light fixture. So there's so many more possibilities than what's shown :)

I'm in college for architecture and want to build my first home so stone gabions were one of the things I came down to as well for practical, and aesthetic use as well as cost. Labor depending of course on filler can be really low as well as apposed to even traditional methods. Good luck on your build!
