Its very nice to see you guys up here, you guys actually USE your gear.. I can not tell you how frustrating it is watching about 10 different guys up here on youtube that do not know ANYTHING just present gear and tell me how great it is, to me that is a huge disservice and also is salesmanship more than an actual review. So thank you guys for adding quality to this genre!! Good luck in all you do.

you guys should do a trip to your neck of the woods for a bushcraft/camp/weekend party. I would pay to go all the way from NY. Could even give lessons and make a pretty penny to buy some new gear and knives. Would you? Be so much fun, think about it. Greatest way to bond with subscribers who genuinely love you two gents

Bark River produces a knife for the American Knife Company (Jim Nowka) that has a rare earth magnet in the sheath. They have a line of Forest knives that are for bushcraft. You should check em out. The magnet locks the knife in really well and could be used to create a makeshift compass.

The number one important thing about knives is the Heat Treatment. didnt see that mentioned... but you talked about it when you said something about the need to get the right balance between edge retention and toughness. id like to recommend Boltaron above kydex sheaths. Boltaron isnt as easy to make, but its still easy to make after learning how. Boltaron is way better in extreme hot or cold weather where as kydex will warp. Thanks guys for the video! your the only channel i look forward to watching every thursday (in fact i thought it was thursday yesterday, and was sad when i found out you didnt have one lol).

Great video guys! In the U.S., there is a guy (Bob Dozier) who makes some really good Kydex sheaths which are form-fitted for his knives, and have a special tab, or button, which needs to be pressed in order to get the knife released from the sheath. The normal sheath that comes with his small factory knives is a horizontal kydex sheath with the special locking feature. All it takes is a press on the tab while pulling the knife out, and it comes out smoothly. As soon as you put the knife back in, it is locked in place. It would be nice if all Kydex sheaths had this feature, but I believe he must have the patent on that idea, because I've never seen it on any other sheaths. Keep up the good work!

Guys, really appreciate the videos and your extensive knowledge of knives, steel and the associated functions. The way you destroyed then cleaned up that BK2 was hilarious. Thanks for changing how I think and please keep up all the great fun videos, I always look forward to what you'll come up with next and have got a couple friends hooked on your channel now.... Also, have you ever done a camping video for multiple days where you take the knives you like out and put them to direct use? If not we gotta get you some cool sponsors to send you to beautiful places around the world to make your knife videos. (although I still love the feather-stick tests, table point test and so on) Oh, and you could make another awesome stew....dang that sounded/looked tasty, and now i'm hungry~

No love for D2, A2, Aus8, and 154CM? All superior to 440c. Address the difference between better edge retaining steels, which have a tendency to chip more easily, versus steels that bend instead of chipping and can be burnished back into shape and sharpened more easily. (Burnishing blades for edge restoration is becoming a forgotten technique.) Handles that prevent the hand from slipping forward and swells is a good subject to discuss, as well as knives that may work better in gloved hands or in bare hands. I like the video. Keep up the good work!

Im in love with my Fällkniven F1. And I didnt try out my F1 dz yet. For me, its the perfect allround knive. But the handle is a little bit to little. I did so many thinks with this knive and its still sharp. The VG10 is amazing. Before i had (or have?) got my fällkniven i had the mora companion. Its not bad, but after a little bit of use, you have to sharpen it again. But its a good knive for beginners.

Important to mention that the steel, grind, profile, etc. is only going to be good so far as it's chosen for the right job. A hunting knife ought to be ground thin, maybe best a hollow ground clip point, and would be good if it were somewhat stainless. A bolo or parang will require a thicker edge, flat or saber grind, with a tougher carbon steel, and so on. There are always going to be trade-offs when you're talking about what makes a "good" knife.

In going along with your handle topic, what do you guys think of skeletonized handles? I had recently ordered a knife by a reputable brand, but upon arrival I was disappointed with the feel of it. Very, very heavy in the handle, and that weight throws the knife off balance, making it difficult to perform any kind of fine work with. Also unnecessary weight in a backpack. I should just stick to buying Mora knives, because I find their balance exceptional, and overall light weight.
