From the what we know of them... they were around at the same time, but Ancient druids seemed to practice ritual in groups, and acted as advisers for prominent people... before battles etc.

I don't think that back then, they would have said oh that olde woman over there is a Hedgerider, or hagatessa. I'm rather skeptical on the subject and think that Rae Beth grabbed a few snippets and popularized the label Hedgewitch. I could be wrong :) but when you read about middle ages times, in Britain is was mostly Wise or cunning folk.

+Runita x Haegtes is the documented term found in the few text we have from the time, there is actually a whole host of old english/saxon terms for different magical practitioners documented.

so there is written texts saying Hegatess referred to the cunning woman? I tried looking once but could not find where it came from only others always saying the same thing. I did find other meanings for this word something to do with fairies but can't find it no more. And others saying those that left the boundary of the village where sometimes called Hedgeriders!

+Runita x Yes the term appears in the writings of Alfric and the word itself translates from old english literally as "hedge rider"
