Caleigh, witchcraft is transferred through the blood line only. It's not something you can teach out of someone either 😂 so your stepfather didn't fail you. Just like trying to hold back a wave on the beach. Impossible. But it isn't necessarily transferred to everyone in the family. Stick to white magic, have tea and sit down with granny and ask some questions if possible. 😉 I found out my mom was hiding being a witch for 30 yrs while I was growing up and then I found out my great grandfather was a Shaman. Receiving the calling is very special but it is also a big responsibility. Good luck sweetheart. I disagree, we are not all witches. I know a few elves, faeries, and brownies that would disagree. And far too many people are definitely not witches. They are everything a witch is not and do not deserve the title.

The most important question was asked by Glenda to Dorothy, "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" There are many methods of witchcraft, but more important is how you use your practices in the craft. Magic is invoked all around, if you know what to look for. I have only somewhat recently considered adopting the label "witch" though this is because I have been an unlabeled magical practitioner pretty much my entire life.

I don't think that it's at all realistic to believe any witch is purely all good all of the time. Magic is like nature in many ways. There at times needs to be destruction to have creation. Sometimes the only way to protect yourself does cause mental or physical harm. That doesn't inherently make it "bad" in the way that we are traditionally lead to see good and bad. I am a thousand of shades of gray. My Magic reflects my life and my story. I do not go out of my way to harm others, but I will not allow myself to willfully be harmed either.

I’m definitely eclectic but decided to *currently* settle firmly in a green cottage witch as that encompasses basically all the things for me. Natures, cycles, etc etc. Learning from lots of wonderful people like you I know it doesn’t have to stay that way or fully define me as my path can definitely change as I go. My sister was so barraged with negative comments that she turned fanatically to Christianity and denied her craft. I have always been in tune with the spirit but sadly was labelled a "witch" in my 20's and not in a good way. So glad I found your channel. Hi, i just found your channel. To be honest some other channels that i had found made me uncomfortable, as though what i was doing was the wrong way, so i stopped watching altogether. Today was a “happy”stance. And i could feel the acceptance in what you said. My native aunts and uncle taught me about herbs & oils since i was a child.my “gypsy” grandmother taugh me about the tarot.astrology and crystals came to me through other acquaintances, but there was no mention of witchcraft or anything of that nature. Although most of my family died when i was fairly young ( 12/13 ) it all stayed with me. I am old now, in my 70’s and have been told that what i do is witchcraft in the last few years. I like to keep an open mind. I don't have a specific label so it allows me the freedom to learn about different practices and cultures. Where I live there are no covens so about 13 years ago when I started on my path I of course used the internet to get started but as times has passed I have come to realize that at least for me it's more about having a spiritual connection and allowing to flow and follow where it takes me. I am a light worker. To answer the question of how to do urban magic.. many sounds in city settings hold the proper hz to tune into with intentions and manifestations. Energies of people coming and going can be shuffled around in an intuitive way of creating different environments. Tapping into potential Energies can be a way to manifest protection and luck. The only thing I've stuck with that speaks to me is knitting...I visualize the end user result. (Joy, comfort, confidence, connection etc.) I can feel the fiber running through my fingers and with each stitch creating calmness within myself and perhaps the transfer of a giving heart to the recipients. I usually don't label myself. I'm a witch. No matter what kind of witch you are, you're a witch, and that's it. But when someone asks me about my craft, it does help to have some labels that resume it. Oracle witch. Dream witch. Green witch. Cottage witch. Lunar witch. Art witch. Those kinds of labels help me tell people who ask me about my craft in a quick way that resumes it. Of course, when the person doesn't know and is interested in a part of it I get more into it. Many people know what a green witch is. Few know what a dream witch is. And so the person may know quickly a lot about my craft, and it's easier for them to ask about a specific part they don't understand. It helps me a lot to find information about specific things that I want to know about and include in my practice, it helps a lot with research and finding more quickly the information you want. So yeah, I don't label myself, but I did choose some labels that resonate with my craft to help with all that, especially finding especific information.

Something that took a long time for me to realise is that I am neither of these. I tried to collect crystals, herbs, candles but I fast lost interest in all of them. It was only the end of last year that I truly realised what I am. I am an animal witch. Working mostly with animal bones and hair, with feathers and fur. With the clipped of claws of my dogs. Calling upon the spirit of animals in times of fear and darkness. Feeling dread and sadness when I see an animal laying dead on a road. The incredible exchange of energy when I touch the powerful and strong neck of a horse. Treating every feather as a golden gift. Looking at my german shepherds deep in the eyes and asking for their protection of everything evil. Just that dire need to have my home surrounded by animals. Even just that deep understanding of the eternal cycle of life and death, of predator and prey. Ever since I was a toddler, I have ran on all fours and howled out into the night. I bit and snarrled, I yelped and scratched. Especially the wolf has always been by my side and he has the central part of my altar dedicated to him. Not everyone fits a label people, it is okay to try things out but in the end of the day, always embrace what truly makes you and your craft yours.

For a long time I’ve felt something different about me and only have explored it in small amounts and not too often. I feel & believe I’m a Witch and possibly have ancestors who were as well not sure who, or which side of the family although I have confidence it’s my mothers side. Some of us want to put limits on our circles though. Such as I am aa feminist, and there are others who would not want to be a part of that. So with the label in place, I don't have to listen to little minds who think women are less than men. I also am a rural witch and don't get what more urban witches like to do, and they don't get the more self-sufficiency of the rural witch. In the end, limiting is not bad, like people want to make it out to be. It cuts down on witch wars and lets people find groups that won't make them want to quit the craft because they don't fit in.

Interesting! I was searching for poisonous garden plants and came across this video. And I know something about witches, so I thought I would share. I grew up in Burwell England back in the early 60s and as a child I got to know a few witches and my best adult friend was a witch. Back then the country side in England was ripe with witches. I was five years old and I knew a girl (12y/0) who was a witch, she lived down the block. She could make small objects disappear. I couldn't explain it but it was amazing. I will always remember those times. So I thought I would explain a few things about witches. There are only two types of witches in this world, ones that follow the practices of mother earth and the others are basically Hollywood witches, who practices what he or she sees in the movies. There are good and bad (not evil) witches, bad witches are basically Hollywood witches. They weren't gifted at birth. You can not just one day, wake up and say "I am going to be a witch". A real witch feels it in their bones. Real witches do not call their tome (codex) of knowledge, A Book of Shadows, that's only if you are a Hollywood witch and they will never amount to much. Real witches do not show or share their book with others. All witches tomes have a spirit of a dead witch living inside it. All witches tomes are called by the witch inside and if any other witch was to learn of the books name, it could be cursed, destroyed or burned. Tomes are usually inherited and when the witch dies her spirit is given to the tome. A real witch has a garden. All good witches can grow, sun loving plants in the shade. A real witch can go outside into the garden and bring back a meal. And make that brew taste like coffee. Real witches are healers of nature and of man. They feel the need to be outside in the woods or nature. They travel with dirt and branches of wood from their birth place. If they don't, they will never feel at home. Witches usually live solitary lives. However, they do have a yearly convention. It's the last day of April. Ok! So how do you know if you are a Hollywood witch? If you have an Altar, ( real witches have a special tree or their garden. If you have ceremonial things (like a knife, wand, etc). Real witches have only daily utensils. If you dress in black or gothic. Real witches dress in work clothes because they are in the garden or woods. If you say "blessed be". Real witches say Hvala! If you believe anything in the movies like in The Craft. Real witches are grounded to Mother Earth and not in fantasy.

I think one good thing about having a title at first is that it allows you to focus on something. There is SO MUCH you can do with witchcraft that it can be very overwhelming; there are simply so many topics you can read and learn about. Identifying yourself as something (even if just temporary) can help you focus in on certain topics and really learn them happily.

I’m an urban witch and the soundscape of the city really adds to my practice. My windows are always open during my full moon ceremonies so I can hear the buzz of people, traffic, aeroplanes, sirens, dogs, music. It provides a kind of soothing vibration and I find it just elevates my work. I live in Edinburgh, Scotland, which has a very dark history. Edinburgh is the original Salem. Witch trials were carried out at a lake in the middle of the city called the Nor Loch, and there’s a plaque next to the esplanade of the city’s famous castle commemorating all of the young women who were burned there. I feel such a strong emotional tie to this city, and I am a proud urban witch!

Yes, Edinburgh DOES have a very dark history, also very fascinating, rich history! You're so very lucky to live where you do. I'd trade places with you in a heartbeat. I'm going to visit Scotland next fall, and I can't wait. I live in Hollywood, Calif., in a very unique, woodsy area next to Griffith Park, so I do all my ceremonial magick (I'm a ceremonial magician) outside, in my yard, between 2:00-4:00 AM. I can't even practice indoors at all anymore, it just doesn't feel right. Atmosphere is important for me, when I practice. For instance, I practice in the side yard of my Tudor (authentic ) house, which makes it feel like it's year 1310, and if I face East , I see L.A. skyline, and if I face North, I've got half the Hollywood sign looking down on me, while deer & coyote randomly run past me, and sometimes in my yard, as I practice. One night, a coyote sat watching me maybe 10-15 feet away, as I was practicing. It was so awesome. I also had a mama Raccoon with her two babies trailing behind her, casually walk right into my circle of divine light, stop for a sec, look at me, and when I moved, they quickly ran off. I think she thought I was a tree until I moved, then got scared.

I have been practicing since 1978 and I have been down many paths over the years. I have settled on being an eclectic intuitive witch. I use many ritual and spell types that may fall under different categories of witchcraft but mostly I follow my intuition and use my magic to focus it. We'll done video and I appreciate the respect you show to the other beliefs under the umbrella of witchcraft and paganism. That's not always the case when I have seen others do this kind of thing. I would love a video about urban/city witchcraft! I recently moved out of my grandmother's sweet, quiet home with her beautiful herb gardens, flower beds, shady trees, lots of creatures that live in and enjoy her lush green backyard, I could gush forever about how much I love the energy in her space... but now I've moved with my partner into a high-rise 7th floor condo right in the heart of a busy downtown tourist district where the energy is entirely different. All my windows face north, I have limited balcony space, there's constant noise pollution from sirens and traffic, I can't light candles or burn incense without setting off fire alarms! And the only plants within walking distance of me are the narrow strips of grass between the road and the sidewalk and some palm trees. I've always felt called to witchcraft because of the connection with nature, now I feel so out of my element. I need some tips and ideas on how to embrace this new lifestyle and adapt my practice to it.

I've always felt that a lot of wiccan exclusive practitioners just exude this energy of gothic drama and negativity, as if they're somehow a higher being for practicing "true witchcraft". Wiccans tend to gatekeep and judge others harshly, so many Wiccan youtube videos I've seen love to make it a point that their way is the only way and any other way is wrong. It's genuinely exhausting and really pushes new witches away from the craft

I think these labels are fun as long as they are not taken too seriously/in a limiting way. They're also great for beginners to get into witchcraft without getting overwhelmed by the large scope of options. My coven are mostly crystal witches and we have one budding medium- I'm still learning- and the funny thing was I already collected rocks before I started to learn about witchcraft! So, even with my parents being closed-minded about it, they don't notice a thing because I already loved rocks! Other than that I'm mostly unlabeled. However, I want to try art witchcraft with my creative writing and infuse it with luck and healing magic for the reader.
